Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with an experienced immigration lawyer?

I am filing a pettion for a CR1. I am the US Citizen. I have 4 drug convictions and an assault charge but that shouldnt matter because we are already married.

I figure getting a lawyer would help make things go smooth. What do you think?

Thanks

Are you the US citizen or the immigrant?

Sadly, regardless if you are married, those convictions will matter

Laurel Scott is wonderful, scottimmigration.net

What consulate will you be dealing with? How long ago were the convictions?

Good luck

Are you sure they will matter? I am the US citizen. They shouldnt matter unless it falls under Adam Walsh Act. I know many people have told me this.

Obviously you must disclose it and the beneficiary must be aware of it, does the immigrant know?

Good luck

Yes everything has been disclosed to my spouse. She is fully aware of everything. After that there is nothing that can cause any problems though right?

I'm not going to answer your question, but I heard that as long as its not under adam walsh act, it will not affect a CR-1 at all.

You are saying that it will?

I'm saying everything about you will have a bearing on your case. There's a million factors that an immigration officer will consider. They are given "discretion", that is, to judge your case.

I think you should retain an immigration attorney.

I agree, it will be a good idea to get an immigration attorney. Thanks for your help. Now I just need to find a good one with experience.

Dude U are the uSC petitioner, all you have to do

is make sure your wife knows the details of every

crime U may have committed when she goes to interview.

It would only matter if U fall under the Adam Walsh

which is rapes, molestation or beating a former wife

U petitioned.....If U want to use an atty fine, but

not necessary unless your wife has previous convictions

was deported or overstayed while visiting in the past.
