I passed the test, but the officer said I traveled a lot to Brazil... She has to check the law and then make a decision... I stayed in Brazil less then 18 months total (15 if I'm correct)...

Now I have to wait a denial letter or an oath letter...

I have the worst luck with immigration. I always get a funky IO. Do you think it's ok he omit the first digit of my alien number? Apparently that was "ok" but I just keep wondering if it's not needed, why is it on my PR card? I don't think I'll be at the October oath, but here's to hoping!

I applied under the 3 years. My longest trip: 5 months.

According to what she said, it doesn't matter if you travel for 5 months and return to the USA, then 3 months later you travel again to Brazil for 2 months (my case).

Well, according to the uscis website, applying under marriage you have to stay in the USA for at least 18 months and no single trips over 6 months. I made sure I followed their rules, but nothing else I can do...

I was always under the impression that we're allowed 6 months per calendar year only. It doesn't reset once you come back to the US, where you'd be able to stay for x amount of months and go again for another 2, which would make your visit 7 months out of the year. I don't know if that's even correct, but if it is, you'd be over in that year, and that would be an issue? You're almost at the very end, I hope it all gets sorted out soon for you.

I consulted 3 immigration attorneys, they all said there is no reason for a denial, because my longest trip had a 5 month duration, so this is extremely confusing...

I couldn't find the explanation for that 6 month trips, they only say : "6 months or longer"

I really thought it was a total of 6 months any given year. Maybe if you post about it in the forum, someone more experienced can give you accurate information. Worth a try. This whole entire process can be so draining, and confusing at times, even with a straight forward case like mine. I don't think you'll be denied.

It has been 92 since I was placed in line for interview so I decided to call 1800 number. I was told that it doesn't mean anything that 90 has passed by. They told me , the only thing they can do for me is to check what is the office situation like in NYC, Manhattan office. After a minute of waiting the officer got back to me and told me that Manhattan office is only processing applications that were filed February 21st. I filed my paper work June 7th. Just wanted to fill you in. So it is gonna be a long wait time. It just seems strange that everybody else had the interviews or at least received the date of the interview and NYC is only processing February applications. Congratulations to everybody who is done and good luck to everyone who is waiting.

Wow! that's a long wait - best of luck. Now with this stupid gov't shutdown, i hope things dont get delayed even more. My wife's interview on thursday (!) and we just want this over with. I checked which gov't agencies will be affected and dept of state will remain open and so will uscis, except for if its in a gov't building that has shut down. So I hope 1 fed plaza in manhattan is not affected, for your sake. We are fortunate to have a local field office here in queens and that's where her interview is.

Best of luck - maybe you can schedule an Infopass appt if you want to talk to a uscis officer directly.

My family an dI have our interviews tomorrow. With the news overnight, I am just hoping that the Boston office will be open!!!

Wow! that's a long wait - best of luck. Now with this stupid gov't shutdown, i hope things dont get delayed even more. My wife's interview on thursday (!) and we just want this over with. I checked which gov't agencies will be affected and dept of state will remain open and so will uscis, except for if its in a gov't building that has shut down. So I hope 1 fed plaza in manhattan is not affected, for your sake. We are fortunate to have a local field office here in queens and that's where her interview is.

Actually USCIS is under Dept of Homeland Security. it has ~ 12550 employees and 12205 or so are considered as employees that are exempt from the funding hiatus b/c they are either presidential employees or funded through other means (ie, through the ridiculously high application fees - I guess that's 1 reason we can be thankful for!). So ~250 employees not working will not be much of a dent (hopefully!) - 97% will be working according to below. I will call up USCIS to see if our local field office will be open for the interview on thursday.

Dont believe them. It happened to me, I filed mine in June 2013, called the customer service number, was advised they're processing November 2012, so I was within the processing time frame... know what I did, i called the CS number again, asked for a Tier 2 officer, finally got some answers. So call and ask for Tier 2, or make an infopass.
