Hey the fees ay NVC (AOS and IV) if you don't interview within a year do you have to repay?

I know someone who paid IV August of last year and paid AOS (had to get a job) in February this year). They delayed their interview (they don't know when they will go) but will they have to repay if say they got a after august date?

I'm sorry if I pissed you off, that really wasn't my intention at all! You and others on this board have been so incredibly helpful to me and I cannot thank you enough.

To clear something up, I didnt actually chose to move to the US, the UK immigration laws changed without notice whilst my husband and I were on honeymoon, meaning he could not return to the UK at all. I havent seen him since I know others chose this path, and I do love the states so I'm happy to be moving there, but I was not mentally prepared for this struggle. I do think its unfair to tell others not to be frustrated when this forum is the only place I feel anyone really gets me and how difficult this is, and I haven't been frustrated until my previous post.

Yes the NVC does stay open from 7-12 but that's 17 hours, meaning two 8.5 hour shifts, I'm sure no one is working 17 hours every day, 5 days a week. My only point was that if they already have people on odd shift patterns, it wouldn't hurt to have it open an extra two days and have people on rotation to still get the same hours but be more flexible, as are a lot of other businesses.

Please remember that people complaining is just a way for them to try to talk to others in the same situation, and not feel so very alone. I don't know about you but I don't have any personal friends at all who have gone through this before, all of you are the only people who I "know" who have gone through or are going through this. I actually feel much more buoyed up to see everyone's comments, weather negative or not, as it helps me realise that I am not alone.

How do you know they are working as hard and as fast as they can? I have now sent 3 emails in the last two weeks concerning the messed up instructions for the I-864 form, and each and every response I have gotten makes it clear to me that they have not read the email at all, but instead have just copied and pasted the link to the I-864 instructions back to me. Not very helpful at all.

I did not mean to make anyone angry or pissed off, and I find it very upsetting that offence was taken so personally to my post when others have also been upset and frustrated about their situation and not been singled out in this way. You may all be seasoned to this process, but remember some of us are new to this and very scared, and very sad.

Again, thank you very much Saylin, and everyone else, for your continued help and support

Actually people DO work at the NVC on the weekend, the call center however is NOT open. The place you call and the person that answers your email, is likely not the person who has ever touched your case. Just the call center is able to see the information posted about your case.

It is best to call them vs email them. An email takes 2 weeks. I understand it's expensive. But it is what it is.

Not only that but they had a NEW I-864 form thrust upon them by the USCIS. NVC is part of the Department of State. USCIS is part of the Department of Homeland Security. They are not even the same part of the government. Do not expect them to work like a company. It is the government. I don't program, but I know people that do. It takes months - years for get a new program to work and often months to just modify a program. Ever seen updates for facebook, or a game etc? People who are paid a lot of money are constantly writing and updating those programs. This section of the government likely doesn't have a pile of programmers working constantly to update this kind of program, because they seem to have enough trouble trying to keep up with billing people! So it took them a while to modify their programs to input the values correctly into their computer systems so they can do their job. It sucks. I know!

You may be new to this process. But had you read through the entire thread and last month's thread you might have found the answers you were looking for. The search engine here is pretty good! Had you read back then also perhaps you would understand a little of Saylin's frustration. This thread type wasn't started by her but by others who have since given over the reins to younger members as they became frustrated and wanted a break. It is not easy to run a thread of this sort.

Everyone is entitled to rant. You are. She is. I am. Everyone. Saylin is honestly a saint to do this thread every month. Even saints have limits. :)

I was prepared for this process to be at LEAST a year. Minimum. I was happy it took 8 months. But if a place tells you they need 20 business days to complete something, it would be nice for people to give them the time they need to work and be happy when it takes less. Karma is can be good or bad. :) I prefer it when it likes me! LOL! :D Patience is a virtue that is sorely needed.

I did look through this thread, and last months thread actually, I receive email updates of every post, which is why I caught yours so quickly! And yes, I did use the search function, perhaps if you had read my posts you would know that the questions I asked about the I-864 form had nothing to do with the processing but instead with the instructions, where they asked for the petitioners income figure to be moved from number 5 to number 6.c. which clearly had just been copied and pasted from the previous I-864 instructions, and did not correspond to the new form. I have phoned the NVC multiple times on Saylins advice to try to figure out the solution to the issue, but I ALSO emailed them so that I could have written confirmation of the error incase I, or anyone else on here for that matter, got an RFE because of the mistake in the form. They responded to each email, but their responses make it clear that they did not read the question in my emails but instead tried to fob me off by giving me the link to the instructions I have already read. So yes, I did do my research extensively before asking questions, I always do.

I agree that everyone is very much entitled to a rant, but I did not appreciate feeling singled out to be criticised and told to have patience when clearly those having a rant are allowed to not have patience with me, but instead take out their frustrations with an entire thread onto one person. I'm not saying that I wasn't patient, because I did post a frustrated message, but clearly the frustrated message I received in return also lacked patience. I don't mind anyone losing patience on this thread if it is aimed at the NVC or the USCIS because everyone needs a rant every now and then against the political body's that hold so much of our lives in their hands, we can all have saintly patience at every moment in the day ;)

Good luck to all, and again thanks to Saylin for keeping these posts going and for helping everyone out so much. I think we all agree that we would be very much lost without you! :)

I'll be honest. I didn't bother to look for any of your old posts. Since I have finally been able to move, had my first camping trip in YEARS, and have been given some organizer responsibilities on this website to try and make sure posts are in correct forums, I haven't had that time and I should have.

I will try to keep an eye on this thread too to help Saylin out a bit more.

Also for future reference there is a RANT thread in the off topic forum. You're entitled to rant there ALL you want about anything EXCEPT about other people's rants. Feel free whenever you get frustrated to let loose in there.

I do not think they would have to repay. They already paid their fees. As long as they've kept in contact with the NVC within that year period they should be fine.

First off, I didn't single you out (or want it to look that way). Yes, the first part of my post was directed towards you (about their hours and such), but the rest of the post was directed to everyone, not just you. (Go look at the post again, I had said "you and everyone else", but perhaps I should have been more clear it wasn't just you I was talking to).

Anyways, yes, I understand that not everyone in your life will understand the situation you're going through, I certainly didn't. So, talking here on VJ is great as everyone will know what you're talking about. But I see no good from complaining (this goes to everyone, not just you). When I see people complaining about things, such as it taking 3 weeks to review packages, I just get upset that people don't seem to be grateful for what they're getting. They're being given an opportunity to move to the US and these things takes time. Can the process be better? Yes, certainly. There could be many changes done to this immigration process to streamline it so it goes faster and easier. But, as of right now, that's not how it works. And right now, it takes awhile for packages to be reviewed. I never complained throughout my process. I just don't see the point at all. Why focus on all the negative stuff when there's SO MUCH to be thankful for? But, that's just my opinion. People are certainly not going to stop complaining. But, it starts to get to the point where I don't want to answer people's questions cause they're b!tching all the time. And the complaining seems to be at an all time high this month due to the new I-864 form fiasco. With every post I see where the person is complaining, I get one step closer to completely leaving these NVC threads...

I've not heard anything about having to repay bills after a certain amount of time, but I'm not 100% sure on this. They will need a new PCC though for the interview as it'll be expired by the interview. And depending when they got the medical done, they may have to get a new one done.

Saylin you've been a wonderful help and a saint for many people throughout this process. I know I've said it before. If you need to take a break and have some other's handle it for a little while I think people would understand.

In general people, you need to give people time to do their work. I know I HATE it when I'm at work and someone is breathing down my neck all the time. I do not work efficiently when that happens. Most of us work best when we have the appropriate amount of time to work.

JennyWhiteley, I wanted to apologize if my concurring with Saylin contributed to your feeling singled out. When I read her post,I thought she was referring to the multitude of posts across the VJ site lately where the OP's are stressing out from not having an NOA2 after 2 or 3 months. I've been on the site for years (yes, I've made waiting comments myself, guilty as charged), however, years ago, everything took longer (still does for some countries). We are all stuck in this government hole, and waiting is the name of the game for all of us.

Saylin Girlllllllllllllllllllllllllll come on now. If i am hangin here so must you. Your peeps come to my thread. Who will lead them heart.gif

I get tickled myself and shake my head at the rants and raves and whining and OMG. If they only knew right. Yet I cheer , let people cry on my shoulder, call me, friend me, hear their stories when i know mine is over.

To who ever reads this know your time through this journey is but a small blimp in the grand scheme of things. I mean you are planning to spend forever together right? So whats even a year.

Next time anyone wants to complain, rant just pick up that phone and call that one you are missing. Tell them you love them. tell them all the meals you want to cook and the foods you want to eat, and the things you get to do together. Than remember dwheels and you know what your 2, 3, 4 weeks at NVC won't be so bad.

You should be happy and shining cuz you are almost there. Okay back to your regular thread.ClockWatch2.gif

Thanks so much for that. I was at a wedding today and it just really hits you in the face in events like these :/ but instead of cursing nvc I think ill just call my husband and reassure the both of us that this will all be over soon

Once you get your case number, you should email them DS3032 and pay the fees if generated, then print the barcoded sheet and send out your AOS and IV packages.

Please fill your timeline.

Thanks
