Also hoping you can help, in the previous email I talked about this was in the body:

Case Number: XXXXXX

Petitioner's Name: XXXXXXX

Principal Applicant's Name: XXXXXXX

Preference Category: XXXXXXX

Your Priority Date: 06Feb2013

Foreign State Chargeability: SOUTH AFRICA

U.S. EMBASSY

24 GROSVENOR SQUARE

LONDON, W1A 1AE

UNITED KINGDOM

What is foreign state chargeability?!?!? I was born in South Africa but I applied as a UK citizen! What does this mean for my application?

I was living in the UK from my 16th birthday but I did go to boarding school for around 12 months in total over the next year and a half, do you think I need a police certificate 8-O I'm absolutely screwed if I do, they take about 6 months!!! I have a UK police certificate though!

Foreign State Chargeability is just the country where one is born. It doesn't mean anything for your IR-1/CR-1 application. This is only important in visa types where there's a limited number of visas per year per country. If you were filing for one of those visas, I believe then that they would look to how many visas are allowed in SA instead of the UK, but not sure on that. Either way though, you don't have to worry about it as there's an unlimited number of IR-1/CR-1 visas per year.

As for the PCC, I'm not sure. I don't think you'll need it. You only need to obtain PCCs from different countries if it was for more than 12 months. And if you used your UK address for everything while in school in SA, then it won't even show on the DS-230 (under residences), which is where NVC determines what PCCs you need (as far as I know). So, I don't think you'll need a PCC. The only true way to find out though is to send the IV package and hope they accept it with no checklists for a PCC from SA.

Good morning Saylin and VJ brothers and sisters,

Kindly check this mail for me. I received this mail on last friday (June 21, 2013) afternoon. I hope this is a positive email from NVC. But I still do not get the invoiced IV bill. I am panic somehow as I actually need to move from this house on end of June. But I requested them to let me stay here for 2 more months. Hope God will help me.

Dear Sir/Madam:

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your correspondence.

This case is now enrolled in the Electronic Processing Program.

The additional email addresses submitted with the enrollment email were added to our records.

Please note that all forms and documents that we request and require in the future must be scanned copies of the originals. The applicant must present all original forms and documents to the consular officer at their visa interview. Failure to present the required originals at the visa interview will result in a denial or delay in obtaining a visa for the sponsored applicant.

We received the Affidavit of Support Processing Fee payment(s) for this case. You must now download and complete the Affidavit of Support form(s). Please visit the following website to download the appropriate Affidavit of Support form(s) and instructions:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3197.html

We received the principal applicant's DS-3032 (Choice of Address and Agent) form designating an address and agent. Instructions for paying the immigrant visa application processing fee and all future correspondence will be sent to the agent at the address selected on the DS-3032.

For more information regarding the immigrant visa application fee or for answers to frequently asked questions, please visit the following website:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3904.html

In order to better process future inquiries, please be sure to identify yourself in each piece of correspondence sent to the NVC. If you are writing on behalf of a law office please include the law office name as well as the attorney of record's name.

IMPORTANT:

Do not let more than one year pass without contacting the NVC concerning this visa petition. If a period of one year passes from the last date of contact (by telephone, mail, or e-mail) with the NVC, all submitted fees and documents expire. If this occurs, the fees must be paid again and documents must be resubmitted in order to continue the immigration process.

As this case is processing electronically, all forms and documents must be sent via email as scanned attachments to NVCElectronic@state.gov. Sending physical documents to the NVC will delay the processing of your case.

Thanks Saylin! Yes I used all UK addresses during that time, I've lived here since I was 14 in any case. I'm just wondering about question 33 of the Ds-230 "list below all educational institutions attended"

Do they just mean university? If so I can leave out my high school there all together and not have that come up as a question? It makes me thing they want university's or colleges because they ask for "degree or diploma" at the end?

Thanks!!

For question 33, it's high school and up. But I believe there have been members here who start with college/university, leaving out any high schools, and don't have any problems.

Ok fantastic!! The example form on visa journey actually only has university, which is what loads of people on here would have done and they haven't changed it so obviously no one is having issues.

That's what we will do, I'll just leave the high school out! Thank goodness for visa journey, thank you!!
