My husband is planning to send another AOS packet using the I-864 old version.. Would it be okay- will NVC accept it? Pls keep us updated. I called NVC and the agent said 'NO'- do not send another AOS packet using the old version.. dry.png

I wouldn't send them another package.

Darnell, I asked this in the May thread, but since we are in the new month, I thought to ask again here.

Do you remember writing about the very last step before a case leaves the USCIS being that they place a bar code on the packet? Can you send me the link, or refresh my memory on exactly what it's called? I wanted to follow up with our congressional liasion to check with the local office again on that bar code thingy.

Thanks

Just got an interview date. God is Good. Thanks a lot Saylin for all your help and guidance.

Congrats!

Saylin, have you ever heard of the FPU (Fraud Prevention Unit)? I believe all US Embassy's have them.

Nope, I personally haven't.

administrivia note - Saylin hopped a plane to Canada for a few days - unsure when she'll be back. I'll answer yer questions as best I can over the weekend in her absence..

I'm here! ;) I'm returning to the US this Thursday night, so until then, I'll be on here less often.

Thanks for covering Darnell!

YAY I get to meet the infamous Saylin! Neener Neener Neener!

LOL

Wish Steve, dwheels, Darnell, hikergirl, MsHogan and a bunch of others were there at the same time too.

Woohoo! :D Can't wait to meet you! And A & C! It'll be an awesome little get-together! :)

Thanks! I'll update the first post with that link right now!

It shouldn't be no.

For our case, my husband was way below the guidelines in 2007 and 2008. In 2009, he just barely made enough. But, he made more than double in 2010 as current income. We had absolutely no issues.

Thanks Saylin for your instant reply as always! i appreciate it.So there is no problem with 2010 income ,just the current and most recent year will count right?

I am filling up the I864ez form and get paper ready while waiting for a case number to be assigned

thanks again.

Yup most recent year and current year is what NVC looks at. Your embassy/consulate may be different, but for NVC, it'll be fine.

Well, I learned about this the hard way, as has Stevie-B recently.

After approval at a local office , the casefile is scanned, and the A-File is created. Once that is finished, it's lobbed into another queue to go out of the building. Some folk had it misrouted at this step, and the casefile pegged to go to NRC instead of NVC.

Stevie-B 's casefile was pegged for routing to NRC, and he caught it in time, before it left the building. IIRC, his casefile was at the San Antonio office 65 days after approval (I could be wrong on the # of days)

My casefile - I dunno - I had my ILS Human all over this, the week that it left the building. It left the building 31 days after approval, from the Dallas office.

So, this scanning bit takes time, it's yet another queue . Stevie-b's casefile got tagged for routing to NRC, but he corrected that before it left the building via an info pass appointment. My I-130 approval notice never mention NVC, and only mentioned adjustment of status, so my freak out was rather long and tedious, in an attempt to get it rehomed to get to NVC.

So, it's not just 'a bar code' - it's a full scanning in another unit at a local office, and after the casefile is scanned, the A-File is created.

Whew ! I'll have a look with the search tool here, see if I can find anything from prior monthly threads for you. What I wrote above is solely from my mostly munged memory.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Checked the NVC payment portal circa 12:30 CST - the IV fee bill was marked 'PAID'. YAY ! My last check prior, was 01:10, and it wasn't marked paid yet.
