Sounds like she knows what she's talking about.

And I'm so happy she was able to echo exactly what I've written about here, to you and about 30 others.

Chase down that I-130 - the local office has messed up, somehow.

You know she can't act until she has the signed release form, right? print it, sign it, scan it, set up as file attachment in an email. in the body of the email -- give all biodata on you and yer spouse plus uscis receipt #, and a detailed description of the problem. If you write that your main concern is that the casefile was tagged for NRC movement instead of NVC movement, that, IMO, will get the fastest 'action' by the ILS rep.

Yes. That "case inquiry form" was the signed release form...so she has that now along with a copy of my NOA2. I put the biodata and mentioned my concern about it going to the NRC on that form. In the body of the email I gave her a timeline of what has happened with my case so far (which she requested).

She was very knowledgeable on the whole I-130 process which surprised me. When I was explaining my situation to her, she knew exactly what should be happening throughout the process.

She said she's going to start by calling the Newark office and see what they can tell her about what happened after they approved my case and then go from there. She said that office can be a little slow in getting back to her so it might be a few days before she knows something.

How many years of tax returns do these people really need? All three?

You either send just the most recent year (2012) or the last three years (2010, 2011, 2012). It's up to you.

My recommendation is to get tax transcripts. They're typically just 1-3 pages long, compared to entire tax returns, which seem to be a minimum of like 10 pages since you need to include the 1040, all W2s, all 1099s, all schedules, and all worksheets. This is why NVC prefers tax transcripts. Plus, copies of tax returns don't prove you actually filed them, whereas tax transcripts do.

Yay, our case made it to NVC today!

It only took 68 days.

I just called, and at first the lady said no, and then said "oh, wait, it arrived to our building today."

She of course then said they'll contact me when it's in their system, but they'll hear from me before then.

Me - happy. smile.png

Should I give them a day or two to ask about the case and IIN #, or wait longer?

time to review? 20 minutes.

However - do NOTE THE QUEUES prior to that, is two queues on each set.

Each queue has duration of waiting, and each in queue your file moves along.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Athena same thing happened to me, except instead of birth certificate they said I did not sent marriage certificate. Talked to them and had to get a supervisor review. Funny thing is when I talked to them they said that I needed to get that exact paper, and when I asked that so you have my birth certificate they said yes. To which I could tell them that then you also have my marriage certificate since it is the same paper... But still have to wait for a supervisor review.

Oh oh... Any news, have they reviewed your documents by now? I called the NVC back tonight and they haven't reviewed my certificate yet. Got the checklist email last Tuesday and I am wondering whether to just re-send the virkatodistus, together with a copy of the NVC's own reciprocity schedules... I understand that the NVC doesn't deal with that many applications from Finland and that they cannot be expected to remember what our birth and marriage certificates look like, but I wish they'd check their own instructions before sending out checklists.

Many times the supervisors are engaged, or at meetings. You have to keep trying. Call at different times of day. If/when you have a supervisor looking at stuff for you (and not just a simple thing) then (IMO) stick with that supervisor, asking for that supervisor each time until something is resolved, and

make note of the supervisor's working hours.

I had a supervisor looking at stuff for me in May Month, she worked in the last shift, and was off on Wednesdays. So even knowing all this, I wasn't able to get her 100 percent of the time. It was more like 25 percent of the time that I called in, asking for her. But even then, she was able to resolve some things for me in a timely fashion..

Thanks, Darnell! I called them last week and to my surprise, I was put through to a supervisor. She couldn't really help me, but at least I felt better after having spoken with one :)
