Packet 3- did it come by e-mail?

Hello all!

I'm reading the Sydney Embassy information, and it says that packet 3 will come by e-mail if you provided an e-mail during the I-129f process. Does that mean my e-mail? (the US citizen) I am asking because my Aussie fiancé has moved and we didn't get his address change to CSC before we got our NOA2 on May 22nd. I haven't called to find out if we've made it to NVC yet and have been assigned a case number, but I don't know if we need to try to change his address through them, or wait until our file is in Sydney, or if it will come to my e-mail just change it when we send in the packet 3 paperwork. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

In my case they emailed packet 3 to my fiance (the USC) and he forwarded it to me. I had the impression I was also supposed to receive a hard copy of it but I didn't get that. It wasn't necessary anyway. Everything you need is in the email.

Actually, here's the link they'll give you, if you want to start getting prepared: http://canberra.usembassy.gov/fiance_niv_appl.html

Just a disclaimer - I assume things haven't changed and that this link isn't 'old' in some way, but I don't know that for a fact. So just make sure to read your packet 3 email when you get it, and use the links they give you there if they are different, because things do seem to change all the time.

Sorry I don't know what to do about changing his address. Maybe you can just email the consulate? They would tell you what to do, they've been fairly good with my questions, they usually respond within a couple of days. In any case nothing has ever been sent to me at my home address, except now at the very end they are going to mail my visa to me here. And they're using the express post bag that I addressed to myself and gave them, so at least in my case there has never been an occasion where they needed to know/use my address.

Thanks guys! I was thinking about e-mailing the Embassy and asking, but I know that won't do any good until I have a case number so I wanted to check about the e-mail part first to be sure. We've already started working on some of the paperwork; it's listed on the Embassy website as well (I think that's where I found it?) so I'm sure it hasn't changed that much. At least we'll be mostly prepared! Thanks so much for your answers! :)

Good luck sweetie! If you need to know anything else please ask. I've just finally got my email saying that they've issued my visa, yesterday. I've taken quite a few months getting everything together but it is still somewhat fresh in my mind so if I can help you along with the next steps in your process I'll be happy to.

I was in a similar situation when we got our NOA 2 too. I had moved while we were waiting so when we got the case number from NVC I just emailed the consulate to tell them my address had changed. They emailed the packet three to both me and my fiance. I always found the Sydney consulate to be super helpful, I had to email them a few times through the process. Always helpful although sometimes a little slow replying to emails.

Finally time for AOS.......

12/07/11 Sent AOS package

12/09/11 AOS package delivered

12/14/11 Received NOA for I-485 and I-765 (we're not applying for AP)

12/22/11 Received letter for Biometrics

01/04/12 Biometrics in Phoenix

01/31/12 Received email update from USCIS saying that we've been scheduled for an interview

02/03/12 Got an email saying card production had been ordered for my EAD...now just to wait for the card...

02/09/12 Received email saying EAD card has been sent

02/13/12 Received EAD card :D :D :D :D

03/06/12 Interview in Phoenix :).....Approved :D

03/14/12 Received Green card in mail.....

....no more USCIS until December 2013

Congrats on your visa Riss! Exciting!!! I may pick your brain as things get closer :) I appreciate the help from everyone. It seems like the consulate is much more laid back than USCIS, at least from what I've read, which is good because my fiancé is stressing a bit. I'm the paperwork person and I'm not there to help him out so doing it over Skype is a bit of a challenge! At least they accept e-mails and don't make you wait on hold for 89 million hours like USCIS! Plus then time zones aren't an issue. :)
