I used USPS global express guaranteed, transport and delivered by FEDEX took 4days to Pangasinan. Cost $80 for about 2lbs. Instead going to actual FEDEX retail store and UPS. It's cheaper and safe too.

This is as safe as using FEDEX or UPS? I have a post office right across the street...that WOULD be ideal, but it HAS to be safe....

From what I understand, Global Express relies on the Philippine postal service for final delivery. FedEx uses Air21, a private company (at least in the provinces). If the post office that serves your fiance is reliable, it's probably fine. If not, FedEx will probably provide a bit more piece of mind.

I went with FedEx and my only real complaint is that once they turned over the package to their agent, there was no tracking available until days after it was delivered (one day ahead of schedule).

I am not sure how much my fiance paid for the 5 lbs. of documents he sent last month via fedex. Just be informed that recipients are ought to pay the custom fee worth P250 (in my case). But the shocking part was the inbound shipment of the fedex. I was charged of P315 for the entry form fee and P449.29 for the warehouse storage charge at Cargohaus, Inc. (Fedex's partner in storing items in case they arrived at NAIA during weekends). In total, being the recipient, i paid P1,052.29. I just don't know if this is also the scenario in other cargo forwarders.

Thanks for the info! Actually we use skype and facebook mostly, so we *should be good, appreciate the advice though!!

The phone card or phone is if you are not going to accompany her back to USA and not going to be at her POE. You will likely be going stir crazy wondering where she is and if she made her connections upon entering the country. I did not send anything in my Fd Ex package and wish I had as my now wife missed her connection in Chicago and was delayed 3 hrs. Imagine waiting with excitement for your fiancée and the plane empties and no fiancée. I did and it is the worst feeling in the world..... Good luck

Just trying to get an IDEA on how much to expect to pay for this? I except the final package to weight about 3-4lb (lots of proofs!) I want to ship the documents FAST and RELIABLE and was wondering how much I can expect (roughly) to pay?

3-4 days is fine, I don't need express priority, etc...

anyone have a rough range that would probably be accurate? :-P

- Brett

What about sending PDF files instead ? You could send that way and what has to be original and signed with Fedex or DHL . Avoid the post office at all costs . Best bet would be to print online it may be cheaper then in the store .

Ahhhh I see! good point, I will do that, can you recommend a specific calling card? she will be landing in Chicago most likely at her entry point, and I've never really had to deal with phone cards for international phones, etc...thanks for your help.

Thanks to EVERYONE for the responses! Very helpful!

I agree with others, if you can find a nearby LBC it would be the cheapest option and should be reliable. I also plan to use them to send my documents when it is time.

I would love to but they don't list OH as a state they do shipping out of on their website... :-(

On our case it is actual FEDEX who delivered it. Got there in 4days!!

Thanks for the replies everyone, I've decided to use either UPS or FEDEX guaranteed, to be safe (LBC isn't even an option where I'm at, in OH)

One more question....she lives in Bacolod, but it thinking about traveling to Manila now (staying with her brother), would it be as/more reliable/safe to ship the package there instead? I was thinking about maybe shipping to the mall (the same that is suggested to do to have her Visa shipped once it's approved, to the 2go or something like that)

Has anyone done this, or is it better to tell her to stay put and receive the package first? She has other stuff in Manila she needs to do (get police clearance in Singapore, a friend is helping her there with that process, etc...)

Thanks again.

i think it is better to pick up the package in Manila.. at FedEX or Mail and More (which carries FedEx deliveries) which are also in malls like SM or ROBINSONS...
