Changing my last name

I recently married my american fiance and I want to take his last name.

I am currently completing all of the required forms for AOS etc. If i use his last name on all of the forms does it matter that my forms of ID still have my maiden name? From reading other discussions I am under the impression that as long as I submit the marriage lisence (which obviously will be sent anyway) that I am OK. Is this right?

Also when changing my name on my social security card (which i had because I was doing my OPT which was due to expire on June 26th), does anyone know which option i would select from:

-legal alien allowed to work

-legal alien not allowed to work (must provide a document from a U.S Federal State, or local gov agency that explains why you need a social security number and that you meet all of the requirements for the U.S gov benefit)

-Other ( must provide a document from a U.S gov agency that explains why you need a social security number and that you meet all of the requirements for a federal benefit except for the number)

OR

should I just wait until i recieve my EAD?

Any insight on this would be great!!!

Thanks

Apply in your married name because you want that on your greencard and eventually all your other things. The marriage certificate will prove the legal name change and will even work for travel abroad until you change your passport. Like after you have a greencard in one name but a passport in another.

For Social Security, just wait until you have the greencard is what I think is best. The number remains the same so straighten out the last name when you are a permanent resident. At this moment your status with Social Security is no different because you haven't adjusted your status yet. You could go as for a name change on your F1 status, but then you'd go back to change to EAD and back again to show your greencard to be a permanent resident in their records.
