You have to get an EAD to be able to work. Are you married yet? If so, you can apply for it when you apply for AOS.

The technical answer to that question is yes, did you receive the temporary EAD stamp at the POE? It looks like you are almost 50 days into your 90 window....

YMMV

Your friend is right but wrong. You can work but not legally. People do hire illegals everyday but notice the word 'illegal'. You need to file for EAD - Employment Authorization Document or wait for your greencard - your K1 is used up when you enter the US and its not valid for work. If you go to work illegally, be prepared for the consequences - not worth it in my opinion. If you need money badly - file for EAD but do not take the chance of getting caught and deported/banned etc. Good Luck

Hicham,

If you can find someone who is willing to hire you. You are EA but you don't have an EAD, documentation that an employer is required to see when they hire you.

Some employers are sloppy, others are quite strict.

motu,

What consequence for the K1 employee are you thinking of that wouldn't be worth it?

Aside from the fact that working without EA is not held against the spouse of USCs with respect to adjustment of status, Hicham_Gina is EA at present. He's lacking the required documentation, but that's the employer's problem should someone hire him.

Social Security Number?

in this case, would the receipt from the application of a SSN suffice? an employee has 90 days to produce a SSN, correct?
