Going to Hawaii is not the issue. Being in international air space and a possible change in plans not yours and a landing outside the US, in a foreign country is. Darnell made a good point. Personal decision, yes it is. We were not willing to risk the low probability of an problem and thus being out of status and starting over, TBone nailed it.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

This is very confusing.

How long to get the green light to travel after adjusting status?

We are the 50th state......

I'm a pilot, and I can assure you that there are no reasonable circumstances under which a flight to Hawaii would land outside the US. Even if it were to happen, accommodations would be made and it would not cause any immigration problems for the passengers.

My ex is out of status and has been traveling freely around the US without any hassles. When I asked border patrol to check her documents they refused because while her I-360 is pending she got deferred action status I believe and an EAD. This allowed her to get a SSN and apply for a valid state issued ID card. And viola, a non-USC who is out of status is living the life of riley (alt: the life of reilly) ....literally.

so, yes you can travel to Hawaii....
