Shipping Advice Please

Hi everyone,

My husband and I are living in the UK and are currently waiting for word from the London Embassy regarding an interview date. We'd like to get our stuff ready to go so we don't have to wait around too long after the interview.

Do any of you have advice regarding shipping stuff (i.e. clothing, house hold decorations, dvds, etc) to the US? Can you recommend particular moving companies? Do you have any experiences you could warn about?

Fortunately we live in a fully furnished flat so we won't have to send large items like furniture. I've seen various companies online but would appreciate the advice of anyone with experience and recommendations.

Thanks for your help. Good luck on everyone's visa journey

Many years ago when I moved from UK to USA, I sold everything that I could get a reasonable price for. Then I used thirteen suitcases for two adults and two children to ship a lot of clothes that were never worn again. I have advised my fiance that only memories cannot be bought cheaper over her in the usa.

Consider paying an excess baggage fee and leaving most things behind. Some can be collectedat a later date or when family and friends visit.
