thank you all for all your replies. yes we were officially engaged when applied, we submitted whats up, tango, and viber but they said its important to have phone logs. we have some ecards and few emails

I am under shock I am so confused and can't think anymore, we dont have any red flags, no age gap. . . etc I am not sure if applying for a tourist visa before is a red flag!!!! we just met once during the last two year!!!

Ebunolowa, the mind reading part and convincing is sooo true this is what happened, even she looked at our photographs with a smile of sarcasm which is not nice. the photos of our engagment were beautiful there wasn't alot of invited people mostly family members and some friends.

They questioned why we met once only, I am not rich I cant going and coming forth to that spot of the world. The requirement is once at least If I knew that would be a problem I would have travelled but I had to save money

another annoying question: she was asked why she has waited all this time and why hasnt she looked for another men???????!!!!

I am the petitioner

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process forum to Embassy/Consulate forum -- OP is describing the results of a consular (visa) interview and some respondents appear to be confusing it with USCIS requirements. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Holy cow, sounds like they are very strict in Cyprus. I hope Manila accepts Yahoo chat logs in lieu of phone logs, because we use that instead of calling.

Manila usually accepts internet communication. The primary thing they are looking for though is proof that you've been together. Dated and detailed photos of you with her and her family are especially important.

Yeah, I hope Manila isn't too strict. Viber is just as good as a land line. I mean our technology advancements are moving in a different direction and they should change with it. Viber, Skype, and Google Talk are all VoIP and is just as good as a land line. If you have seen each other physically and have some sort of communication, a relationship can definitely be built from that.

Has anyone gone thru 221 g before?? Is it likely to br approved if we submitted all the requested documentation. I am trying to get letters from friends now.

can refusal turn to approval? is this usuall?

<3

I can only speak about Bangkok, but this happened to us. I lived in Bangkok with my wife for 3 years. I submitted a copy of my passport with 100+ exit entry stamps into Thailand, my lease for my apartment, and a couple photos. The embassy came back and gave us 221g for not enough relationship evidence. Needless to say I was shocked. I sent an email to the embassy asking what they want. They responded that my wife only submitted a few photos, and that everything else was just proof that I lived in Bangkok, not that I lived with her or had a relationship with her. They wanted more photos. So fine. That day we left the embassy went all over Bangkok having people take photos of us together. Went back, changed clothes, and went out again and had more photos taken. Went in the next day and gave them the photos and she was approved.

The point is this: Contact the embassy and ask them what relationship evidence they are looking for. Different embassies ask for different things when it comes to proving an ongoing relationship. Find out what it is, and give it to them.

The good news is that they only issued you a 221g, which means they want more information. They haven't denied you. So try and find out exactly what it is they want, and give it to them.

Sometimes I wonder if the ConOffs understand the gravity of their decisions and how debilitating it can be.

I'll tell you what, that's a job I don't wish to have.

Good luck OP.

I'd bet some of them take some kind of perverse joy in denying people. I'm a cynic I guess.

The question is, when was the last time you saw her in person? Have you seen her IN PERSON within 2 years prior to filing?

Isn't that a requirement for filing the I-129F? Seems like if they didn't meet that requirement, the I-129F would've been rejected by USCIS, and never made it to the consulate.

If they are asking for more provide more . Do not be discouraged and move on from this . Added time , but your still on the journey ! I plan to have phone records , pictures , email chats , letters , new letter of intent from both of us , letters from her friends about spending time with us on my original trip , and what ever else I can think of . More details about what exactly you submitted for relationship proof would be helpful to understand why they asked for more . We would be able to help you better .

Hi,

I would just like to ask if USEM Consulate will really ask the new letter of intent? can you post a sample?

Thanks!

Best bet is to go to her and engage there. Your going to keep getting denied if your not even engaged, they don't care what her family thinks because the visa is for her and you are the only other person that matters in the filing.

I am under shock I am so confused and can't think anymore, we dont have any red flags, no age gap. . . etc I am not sure if applying for a tourist visa before is a red flag!!!! we just met once during the last two year!!!

Ebunolowa, the mind reading part and convincing is sooo true this is what happened, even she looked at our photographs with a smile of sarcasm which is not nice. the photos of our engagment were beautiful there wasn't alot of invited people mostly family members and some friends.

another annoying question: she was asked why she has waited all this time and why hasnt she looked for another men???????!!!!

I am the petitioner

Not mentioning her name here but does it start with an L ? Please let me know, I thought she left. If you email her, the name will be in her reply email.

The tourist visa was not the problem if all data in that application is consistent with the current petition i.e. all answers are consistent, they do cross check that.

When we were given the 221g we got stuck there for 16 long months then were denied as I previously said. If you generate phone records now

and submit them you have a chance of being approved still.

Email her and ask her the time frame she wants the current records from as you don't have any from the past. If you can be present for a second interview ....if she grants you a second interview.... it may make the difference and tip the scale in your favor by you being present.

When she asks stupid questions like why didn't she look for another man, your fiance should not shy away but boldly insist that she loves you and wants to spend the rest of her life with you.

I want to ask you again....is your fiance a Cypriot or another National studying in Cyprus ? I asked for a reason and it sometimes does make a difference with this embassy. is she interviewing in the North or South part ?

It seems to me she is stalling for some other reason and using the phone records as an excuse to delay.

Just give her what she wants, you don't have it so generate it now throughout this months (or however long she will allow) and submit it as instructed. Ask her if she will accept a calling card company (enjoyprepaid.com or Rynga.com ) it's so much cheaper and you can print it out in detail, names,dates/time called.

If she returns your case you will get an email, unless she puts you in AP then you get stuck there for an indefinite time.

You can call DOS to inquire about your status every couple of weeks to see if something new develped.

Best bet is to go to her and engage there. Your going to keep getting denied if your not even engaged, they don't care what her family thinks because the visa is for her and you are the only other person that matters in the filing.

OP stated they are engaged in a previous post.
