thank you zooropa. you probably just prevented me losing a good night's sleep. biggrin.png

Your welcome! :)

This is not fully correct. The first 2 numbers are the year, yes. But the next 3 numbers cannot be the working day of the year. My 3 numbers are 901. There is no year with 901 days, working or not.

Yes, this is true, thy changed the system recently, now we get to figure out what the new system of numbers are for this set!

You are right about not fully correct. I think everyone filled in 2012 has 901 and for fillers in 2013 it's 902.

About numbers. We must compare last 5 digits , not last 4.

For example . I am dec5 with last 4 numbers 6891, the poster who was approved from dec 20 has 6175 , but when you look as 5 digits number - mine is 26891 and his 46175 . So we have 20 thousands cases difference .

So we must compare last 5 digits. My opinion .

Exactly! You beat me to this same thought I had! :)

You could be right. Our last 5 digits are 68887 and we received NOA1 on Jan 11

Hello guys! Thank you for all you posts. They have been very helpful in understanding what s going on. Our petition was transferred from VSC to TSC on may 29 th. We are 12/20 fillers. Our last four digits are 9114. If it will help to understand the logic of USCIS. We hope to get our approval soon and wish the same to all of you.

I agree last 3 or 4 digits mean nothing. It's the last 5, but giving that is the same as giving your whole receipt number FYI, because the rest of the numbers should be the same for all of us. Not sure that it really matters if someone know your receipt number.

I think the 901 will change to 902 when the last five digits reach 99999.

Sounds like it really is just the last 8 digits if this is the case. It's just that the first three of those take time to change when counting.

So it is: 3 letters indicating service center, 2 digits indicating year, and 8 digits indicating order in which received.

I agree... DEC5 here also and as we see they don't approve it this way. But also they get it in batches I still don't understand how they not approve it in order. hmmm

I am DEC 4th! Maybe we are in the same "stack" along with Angelina who is also DEC 5th with you. I don't see how else it would work. But then again who knows these days.

Yeah... Zooropa's breakdown of the receipt numbers was super helpful, but it still doesn't explain why the last digits (which should theoretically be assigned on the day the case was received, since my receipt number was included in the email I received on December 12th) are higher for some that filed a week or even a couple weeks before others. For example, a filer who's digits are 5073, and filed on December 17th, while mine are 6502 and I filed on December 12th.

I just think that's weird. I'm not necessarily looking for an explanation, because I doubt I'll find one, haha.

I am Dec4th and my last 4 is 3717...

It's the last 8 that are in order of receipt. Only the first two digits after the three letter code is in reference to something else, which is the fiscal year and would be 13 for all of you.

I confirmed this on research online. They recently changed this from the method zooropa presented, due to DACA processing.

For example, for WAC-13-90126400

WAC is the service center.

13 is the fiscal year (starting in October of the previous calendar year)

90126400 is the number of order received

It USED to be...

WAC is the service center

13 is the fiscal year

901 were three digits indicating working day of the fiscal year (which would only be up to around 260)

26400 is the number indicating order received

13 may even no longer be in reference to the year, but they just decided to stick with that number out of consistency with previous numbers. They may have changed it simply a 10 digit number to handle the insane number of DACAs received, and the number will wrap around back to 1400000000 once 1399999999 is received. That's just a guess though.

This looks promising. They are starting to approve our applications starting the end of last week. Maybe much better news this week :)
