I'm a bit concerned because I also had my case transferred, and I'm about to move from NJ to Arizona. I wonder if I should bother changing my address or just wait and see what happens (since I filed for mail forwarding from the Post Office and my parents live at the NJ address anyway, so it's not like I wouldn't receive any correspondence. Would that affect any of the processing, if I changed my address? Anyone with experience moving during this process?

True, don't know what these ones at NYC office were then. Maybe VSC has been transferring some files to local offices for a while, just not in the mass transfer that they did this time.

Maybe, or they could be special circumstance cases where perhaps they felt they needed to meet the petitioner and interview them due to some reason or another that caught their attention. I really think it's almost impossible to try to figure out exactly what they are doing. I just hope this movement gets you all the adjudication you all deserve to have already. 5 months really is the longest anyone should have to wait.

Who's taking it personal? I have nothing personal to gain or lose here. Just pointing out a mere fact that New York applications are generally sent to VSC so the logic didn't fit the reality of the situation. It's never about VSC vs. CSC IMO. Each unit works separately and each group of filers from each center have their own issues at their own times. What we do have in common is having to all work through a system that is broken and try to get through it as best we can.

That was what an officer told me when I called on 5/24 that my application was most likely transferred to my local office which was good according to him. I posted here last week after my conversation with him. At least we can now do an infopass to yell at them if they keep dragging their feet. But there is no doubt in my mind that this case would have been adjudicated by now if it had been initially sent to my local office.

I got the same message today. Local office? Really? I wonder where the file really went. My local office is Memphis, TN for where I live.

Where did your petition go to get approved? Did it stay at TSC even though they said it went to the local office?

Also how long did it take to get the NOA2 after your transfer?

My petition got approved at the TSC. The messages about going to local offices can't be true. The logistics would not allow it. My petition was one of 30,000 sent to TSC. If these petitions had been divided up, and then transferred to different offices around the country, that would take more effort than keeping them at the original service center.

I'm sorry to say that my process basically started over when my petition was transferred, because it took 5 months for approval after transfer. I sincerely hope none of you have to wait that long. The waiting sucks, there's just no way to sugar-coat it.

Your fiancee home state so in Michigan, it will probably be Detroit. But unless VSC is 99% sure that the various local offices can adjudicate all these cases within a month, I will hasten to say that their decision for the transfer was dumb because they are currently processing late November applications
