Wow, I feel honored to get to start this thread. I know for some it's going to be a very hard day to be as thankful as people might expect you to be (Jean & M4E, special hugs to you (F) and any other long waiters I'm not as familiar with who come here often.)

I know we already did a thread on what we're thankful for and we've already discussed food and our plans, so I guess this thread can be whatever it turns into (aren't they all anyway, no matter how hard we try to make them stay on topic?)

I hope that everyone feels loved today, and eats as much food as they want to. I've got to get busy balancing the checkbook to see how much Black Friday shopping we can do since Abdel is curious about it now, then I have to spend most of the middle of today in the kitchen cooking for tonights dinner, but that's ok, because I love to cook.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYBODY!

i slept late!:dance: that is a rarity (sp?). I'm going take the dogs out to the park and then back home to finish preparations of my contributions to Thanksgiving dinner at my parent's house. I did most of it last nite, but today everything has to be put together and made "ready to serve". Later I may go scooting around visiting friends and family. Hope everyone has a wonderful day. I don't think we have Black Friday shopping here, but there are some sales that start at like 6am. I'll hit a couple of them then off to work for most of the day. Days off for other people can usually be busy for me. I'm working from abt 11am til 4:30pm tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

I'm lolligagging until I have to hop in the shower and pick the kids up from their dads and go to my brothers for the big feast. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to transport my gingerbread trifle all that way without it ending up on the floor of the car.

I did Black Friday last year and hope to do it next year too. I have the kids this year so I won't be able to. Last year I arrived at Circuit City at 2am to find a line about 20 people long already and lemme tell ya it was COLD!@!!! Luckily I had my down jacket on but still it was very very cold. I managed to snag a free computer, printer and monitor and some dvd's. I had to pay upfront but got enough rebates to make it free. I was pumped and then went on to Walmart to get a few portable cd players, an mp3 player and some other things. I then went home and slept the rest of the day away.

Good luck to all who are trying it! My sister is going to try to get a Kodak digital camera tomorrow but she's not getting there till 8 and I doubt she'll do it.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day whatever they're doing. :)

I decided not to make the 6-7 hour drive to be with family, but they're going to set up a laptop and I'll have my webcam on, so they will be able to see and hear me in any case. Not sure if they're going to set me at the dinner table or not.

No black Friday for me. I went last year at 6 a.m. which was plenty early and they were sold out of what I wanted so I got something else, but it turned out to be one problem after another with it.

Going to work on a quilt during my 4 wonderful days away from work and it's just a throw, so it should be pretty quick. And it's so cute too. When I get it done I'll post pictures of it. :)

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

I think I'm making the same mistake I made last year by not eating breakfast on Thanksgiving. I remember last year, when i arrived I was so hungry that I devoured all the hors d'ouevres and I barely had ay room left at all for dinner. Coordinating my eating today is so difficult! :crying::lol:

Hi guys - It's been so busy for us here that I've hardly had time to post. My husband and grandpa are painting our new house this morning! We went and bought the paint yesterday and I'm so excited to see it done. I just want to get in to the house! I'm home baking bread (my Turkey day contribution) and babysitting my nephew for a bit. Then we're going to my moms to eat. Our green card interview is Monday at 12pm and as it gets closer I'm a little nervous. We got Youssef's vaccination supplement faxed here from Morocco so hopefully we should be ok in that department. However there were a few that were marked "not age appropriate" and I hope that we don't have to end up getting those. It does say on top that if the box is marked there is a waiver available but I have no idea about this and can't remember ever reading about people needing a waiver? The vaccinations are like Hep B, Hib, and Td. I think he'll probably have to get the Hep B at least but we'll wait and see. Anyway - have a great day everyone!!

Amanda and Youssef ;) and Mikhail and Khalil too lol

You named the baby! Did I miss that? Can't wait till we can welcome Khalil! Oh, and good luck on your interview - I'm sure it'll go just fine. Edited to add: Wadi didn't have to get HepB. Td is the tetanus one, I think, which he did have to get. Not sure what Hib is...

In other news, Wadi nearly threw up after tasting my cranberry sauce. I really hope that I get a different reaction from the resto of the family!

I will be baking a pumpkin pie . . . maybe the one with the walnut topping since I have walnuts around the house. Other than that, I plan to do some more cleaning and maybe get around to finishing painting the cabinets in one of my bathrooms. Yesterday, I goofed off of work in the afternoon and put up the NEW vertical blinds that I ordered last January, hehe, yes, it took me that long to put them up (and didn't read the instructions so I forget to put the clips on for the valance before hanging the rod with the vanes/blinds and can't seem to get them on now).

On a good note, I figured out why my laptop was acting up, hehe! When I called the service ppl and talked them into letting me take it in to microcenter (he mentioned if it wasn't really their problem I'd have to pay), I thought about something he said and tried one last time. It seems that I was mislead about it NOT being the wireless mouse . . . I took the batteries out of it and the laptop still acted funny when I used the touch pad. Soooooooo, I didn't think it was the wireless mouse. BUT I hadn't unplugged the detector part from the laptop . . . and when I did that, my problems disappeared!!! LOL, what a goof! OK, along the way I pried up several keys and cleaned them trying to determine if it was in the keyboard . . . the service guy freaked when I told him that and said that he'd note that down and it was my problem if I broke them . . . hmmm, the keys are designed to have the tops popped off them, so I couldn't break them unless I used EXCESSIVE force, right? I did manage to fix my sticky "P" key, so I think I have now added a "cleaning kit" to my shopping list . . . I think you can get mini-vacuums for the computer so I'm going to check it out at microcenter over the weekend. Too bad I am too lazy to get up for 6am shopping . . . I could get a cheap computer . . .oops, better go check that advert before I say I'll never get up!!
