Hey Everyone,

Just a quick question regarding the background check certificate that I bring with me for the interview. There are three different types that the Region of Peel offerers at its headquarters in Bampton. I know I don't need the vulnerable secrtor check, but there are still two more to choose from. Can anyone clarify with background check from the Police I need.

Thank you in advance.

It's easier to get it from the Comissionnaires. If you don't have a criminal record, you need the one without fingerprints. If you do have a record, you'll need the one with fingerprints.

How do I go about getting it from the Comissionnaries? Peel Region charges $45 for the service fee is the other way cheaper?

This one from Peel: http://www.peelpolice.on.ca/en/services/policeinformationcheckpic.asp Make sure they put that CPIC or National Database was checked.

Commisionaires: http://www.commissionaires-cgl.ca/en/services-personal/personal-criminal-record-checks/ I paid $37.50 for mine (but here in Lethbridge). If you go with them, just tell them you need it for US immigration and just the CPIC check not the fingerprints.

Unless like ricnally said and you have a criminal record in which case you will need fingerprints done.

you guys make me worry about my police check. I got a CPIC level 1 query only. I got it from the RCMP. I assume they know what they're doing. LOL

It also says my consent is valid for 3 months, but I know that's just if I need another police check I can get a free one for the next 3 months. I read it, and got worried, then relaxed.

I think that if the check was not good enough at the NVC level they would have let you know at that point. I would hope, anyway! I got mine from the local, regional police. It was the bare minimum. It cost $40 I think.

I lived in Brampton, they redirected me to 22 Division in Mississauga. I just got the one that was labeled as valid for immigration. It cost me $45 for one and $5 for each copy after that and took less than 5 minutes.

My same thoughts! My canadian husband just go his CPIC done by the local station for free (1 week). I keep reading about fees that people pay, even for non-fingerprint checks, and it makes want to do all the research over again. I reeaaalllly dont want any reasons to delay the paperwork.

I figure I have plenty of time to get these things prepared and ready to go.... haha ;)

There is no real standardized police report. Each individual organization seems to have their own form and fees seem to range from $0 to $50. Some can be done while you wait and others will be mailed to you within 2 weeks. Some local police forces will do it and some won't. All RCMP stations should do it. The important thing you need is that the document states it is a name check valid for All of Canada if you have never had a criminal charge, and a fingerprint check valid for all of Canada if you have had a criminal charge.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
