Hi Chailatte

I only brought with me 2 copies of the confirmation letter from the St. lukes pre registration online, 2 copies of the first page of NVC instruction letter because we have not started the NVC stage yet (the one with MNL case number, IIN, and BIN.., passport and a photocopy of the bio page, 4 pcs. 2x2 pics but they only asked one...i arrived there at 7:30am.

I don't know the ideal time but not bad being there at 7:30am. If i don't have scar in my lungs, i was given the vaccines right away on the same day..

Hello Vic20r

Thank you for your quick response, I will be having my medical exam this coming June 3 and I just want to make sure that I have everything I need before going there. How many hours it will take to do the medical?

I will say, one whole day to do it all..like what i said previously, i arrived at 7:30am..9:30am i was done everything but the Physical exam because that day they only have 2 doctors that will cater US & Canada applicants and it will take like more or less 1020 mins for the physical exam..at 11:30am, the guy in the USA counter called our names and told us to be back at 2:30pm but some of us was called at 4:30pm..

Anyway, if there is no problem with your xray, u will be given the shots right away which is cool because you don't have to go back the next day for that.

Thanks Vic20r. I should prepare myself for a long wait :P That would be great, coz it's better not to go back the next day for the shots and get over with everything in just one tiring day:)

Thanks again.

Hi to all.. a k1 visa applicant here with NOA2 and MNL case #. Just unlucky that I Have similar problem with you guys.. I was diagnosed with TB since 2001 and been appropriately treated since then.. I even got recently my clearance from the Lung Center of the Philippines with a diplomate of internal pulmonary specialist but still they (SLEC) said I have to undergo sputum test and have to wait for that MTB culture results after 6 to 8 weeks. It's so frustrating! Isn't it?

Yes, it is so frustrating that is why i had my early medical exam at St. Luke's eventhough we have not started the NVC process that time because i know i will undergo th sputum tests..Have you done the 3 days sputum tests already?..was really worrid how to hack a sputum out from the lung when you dont have cough.

Oh my god. We really had no idea about that.. I thought we need to present something from the NVC or Embassy to do this required medical exam. I did my my 6 month treatment program (sept. 2012 to April 2013) at LCP which I regret a lot..I should have done it directly with SLEC. Anyways. I have not been to SLEC yet but been talking with their people on line via emails and this is what I heard from them:

Thank you for your inquiry.

Additional requirements for your medical examination will depend on the results of your laboratory tests. If your chest x-ray shows any abnormality that may suggest Pulmonary Tuberculosis, then you will be required to undergo sputum test which involves giving sputum specimen for 3 consecutive days, undergoing pulmonary evaluation, wherein the result of your chest x-ray and sputum AFB test will be explained to you and you will have to wait for the results of your MTB cultures which will be available 6-8 weeks after sputum collection.

You should bring any old chest x-ray films, dated 3 months or older, with you for comparative study and a medical certificate with details of your TB treatment.

With all of my AFB smear tests at LCP in the past 6 months the results were all negative... Though my chest X-ray will always show that scar on my right upper lobe.. I just don't understand why SLEC won't accredit the medication certificates done by the most reliable pulmonary specialist in the Philippines.. :-(

That is why i did not bother bringing any of my previous xray films because its no good for them (St. Luke's) anyway. Yes, they wont take credit to whatever our doctors will say..They always say that the have their own standard based on the US and CDC..
