Return of Original Documents-G884

Hello Everyone.

While submitting my I130 to USCIS, I sent my original copy of marriage certificate and it's translation because I didn't know that I really don't need to send the original one. But I did because one of my friend said so and I believed him. Now my case has been approved from USCIS and currently it's in NVC for further processing. 3 days after I got approval from USCIS I applied G884 form (for return of Documents). When I called USCIS, they used to say give us 30 days, after that they said 60 days. Now 60 days had been passed. When I called today, now they said it can take 6 months. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!?ranting33va.gif

Does anyone has faced this problem? However I got certified copy of same marriage certificate from my country and submitted with my IV package. But it is still need to be accepted by NVC. I am waiting for that. Even if NVC accepted, I don't have the original one yet if they asked in the interview. crying.gif

Please help to ease my pain if anyone had faced the problem in getting back the original documents.

Thank you.

For your sake I hope yo get it back. USCIS is very funny when it comes to people's originals. On the other hand,it is good you have kept your case going with a certifified copy to NVC. I do not think they will require the original at interview though, since they have the certifiifed copy. Just make sure you have correspondence between you and USCIS on the original document issue as proof to show the embassy the location of your document.

Best wishes.

Thank you. but you are saying 'you HOPE'. that means there is a chance that I won't really get it back. crying.gifranting33va.gif USCIS won't gonna eat my original documents right!??. I don't have any written correspondence with USCIS. I just called them. So should I write an email to them???

Let's hope consulate won't start to ask for original.

That is too bad. If they can't return it back then why are they playing game with this G884.!!??ranting33va.gif to make fun!!

So didn't you need to show the original in your interview? What did you say in interview then? Because I am hoping that I will get the interview date soon? I am kind of worried now.
