Yes Info Pass appointment is needed, you need to bring a completed I-131, and evidence of your emergency reason.

Would you mind sharing why you didn't file for the AP at the time you filed the AOS?

I did for for AP, but because of the holidays, i feel AP might take a while...

I'm confused...you did file for it previously?

Yes, I filed for AOS and i-131 (AP) on 13Nov2006, but an emergency situation with my wife's family has come up so she needs to return home quickly..

Timeline information suggests both were filed on the same day (11/13/06)

YMMV

Ok. Thanks.

In that case I would Infopass with your NOA's and as much supporting information as possible.

The severity of the illness and what you have to support it will impact what might happen. There was a very imformative post the other day regarding a family death. The OP in that thread could not get Infopass quick enough to return home for the funeral. Misinformation line advised him to just go to his local office with as much info as he could obtain. He acquired a death certificate and letter from the funeral home with particulars of the upcoming service. USCIS accomodated him nicely that day and he was able to make it home.

In that case the OP had not even filed for AP. I am not certain what, if any, difference there may be in your wife's case since you have already filed.

I'm sorry to hear that her mom's so ill. I hope she recovers soon.

I'm not sure what you should take as proof. And to be honest you might not need any - the officer may simply accomodate you if they feel the story is worthy of pulling your wife's file from the queue. However, it's always good to be prepared, especially if the office you will have to visit is a considerable drive for you.

I'm sure you don't want to be bugging family for a letter from the doc over there. Has your wife spoken to the hospital or to her mother's doctor? Could they possible fax you something? If they would that might alleviate pestering her family for it.
