Thanks. I read somewhere online it can take from 30 to 90 days in the US. But I don't know if that info is up to date.

We got married in Adams County.

Do you know if our marriage is automatically legalized in DK? I don't know whom to contact there about it. And what about my name change?

(having to pay 12 kr a min. for calling DK doesn't make it easy to deal with matters in home country, and no one is answering my emails I send for my county there :( )

I'd ask about the legalization in the Scandinavians thread.

For calling Denmark I suggest a getting Skype number based in Denmark. It will be infinitely cheaper.

It is going to vary soooo much town to town and county to county that your bests bet is calling the clerk in Adams county and asking.

I wrote the clerk yesterday and hope the certificate will be here before my husband is back in 5 days.

I have no idea how to do with the Skype number, but I'll definitely look into it.

I cant seem to find the Scandinavians thread?

Thanks so much for your help!

They wouldn't give me my papers in English in DK btw. I will have to get them translated myself they said.

My application for adjustment of status is not sent yet. For many reasons it's not been possible, and will not be before we get papers from Denmark and our marriage certificate here.

AND my visa Waver runs out in 3 days!

I'm nervous someone will come knock on my door and ask me to go home.

Especially because I now have to children that sees me as mom, who lost their birth mom 2 years ago, and depend on me.

Should I be nervous?

That is really unusual, we were able to order my husband's online not but a couple of months ago and they are in both English and Danish. That includes the police records, military records, birth certificate, and our marriage certificate. My husband doesn't even have a purely Danish one of any of those.

Scando thread is here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/185-scandinavians/

With the Skype number you can purchase a certain number of minutes and the ability to spend those minutes at a discount in a certain country. Then you call using your computer and it is put through like a standard call from Denmark.

It is fairly simply to translate yourself, you just attach a sheet stating that you are fully fluent in both languages. There is a template floating somewhere around the site...

Thank you for your help.

I called the clerk today, they needed some information, I gave it, and the certificate should be here Tuesday.

I will translate the papers myself, thanks for the heads up.

I don't know if I overlooked needing police records. Well, if so I have time to get them here. It doesn't seem like we'll get the papers sent soon anyway :(

No, you should not be nervous. It doesn't matter. Like everyone here said, just file when you get all the documents ready.
