Administrative Processing can be done at the embassy level where they send out investigators to make sure the case is valid. He is married and hiding it? Does the family know of the marriage and approve? Plus, they can visit family, friends, work to check any information on your case.

They can also send the files to Washington DC for security checks too. It all depends on what more processing or checks they need to run on your case. Sometimes it just comes back to Washington and they have to run it thru all the agencies to clear his name from a list that he may of had a name hit on.

In our case and many more from Pakistan we had a home visit. Some of them have had phone calls and home visit or visits meaning more than one trip to verify the case. I know this is the same procedures from Africa too since we have two ladies that have had field investigations and are on AP.

When they do background checks they can do the LexisNexis on both the USC and the foreigner applicant. Another member on here doing a K1 saw their files and it showed http://www.occ.treas.gov/corpbook/occforms...e%20check's was run on their case.

You can also read this brief breakdown on security checks http://www.usaimmigrationattorney.com/Secu...tiveReview.html

And this thread shows some of the AP and field investigations http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;#entry483806

All you can do is pray for patience since AP is a dark abyss and check out the ones that got AP from your embassy and you can see their timelines.
