Is it strange that my wife's petition was filed a month and a half ago is still at the NBC I thought they were transferred to the local office?

Our's has been there for 2 Months..maybe sometimes they stay there..if so ,i wonder if it will be faster...!

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

How long should I wait from the NOA1 date to check if my case has been transferred to one of the Local Field Offices?

after six weeks of noa1 I would call every two weeks... several folks have gotten rfe's with no notice and other misc problems which you will find out about if you are in touch with uscis.. watch out for the cr's because they don't have access to your complete file.. always speak with an IO. I did not receive any notice my file was transferred.. here is the link for the local offices.. it will give you an idea of volumes, but no dates they are working on.

I think the whole system is out of whack and severely inefficient and there is no way we can even consider "timelines." Maybe a year ago, we could, but not now. So I have decided not to think about it every day. Just say my prayers and wait. We have to accept that it is out of our hands. We can only control what we send when requested. If you do this, you will have much more peace about it. Plan visits and communicate often. I skype twice a day with my wife. I am going to expect 9 months to a year before she can be home. If its sooner, then I will be thankful. But if not, then I wont feel let down. Try to not check the UCIS website every day or obsess about it. I just think every day how blessed I am to have met and married my wife. This keeps me going. We are going to try to meet every 3 months. Dominican Republic in July! A whole week together on the beach! Anyway, I hope my suggestions will help you all.

The only problem with the sit back and wait approach is that there are several cases of rfe's that were not received by the petitioner.. so calling on a semi regular basis.. every two weeks or so is warrented

Thanks again! Is your Local Office Los Angeles? I looked up the data for that Local Office and they have 11,517 1-130 petitions pending as of March 2013. That's an awful lot compared to other Local Offices :(

I appreciate the tip and will definitely stay on top of them.
