Snowing here this morning.

If you guys don't want to think about it in heat, fine. Just think about how the planet works. In fact, we've already seen the inverse of this happen very slowly over history. Large amounts of plants covered the planet and breathed in CO2 and output Osygen. Overtime they "polluted" the atmosphere with tons of oxygen. Now, we're taking all of the ancient plant's remains and burning them, therefore releasing their stored CO2 back into the atmosphere. At the same time, we're removing large amounts of plants that produce oxygen and filter CO2. What do you think is going to happen?

Scientists have long suspected that a flourishing of green foliage around the globe, observed since the early 1980s in satellite data, springs at least in part from the increasing concentration of carbon dioxide in Earth’s atmosphere. Now, a study of arid regions around the globe finds that a carbon dioxide fertilization effect has, indeed, caused a gradual greening from 1982 to 2010.

Your reply is about as loopy as Rep. Janak Joshi's.

Colorado to get its own climate czar

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper (D) signed legislation [PDF] this week that directs him to hire a staff member for his energy office whose job will be to track climate-change issues, help the state brace for global warming’s impacts, and offer advice on lowering greenhouse gas emissions.

As the climate changes, the state faces growing hazards from wildfires, bark beetle infestations, declining snowpacks, and drought.

But not all of the debate over the bill in the legislature focused on such germane issues. From the Associated Press:

In pitching his bill to his colleagues, [Rep. Paul] Rosenthal [D] cited a story from the Bible.

“All of you may recall the biblical story of Joseph. He became an adviser to the pharaoh after he correctly foretold seven good years, followed by seven lean years. So the pharaoh took the advice, he stored the grain, and Egypt survived. Let’s take the story of Joseph and the lesson and prepare Colorado for the future,” he said, then quipped: “Joseph, by the way, is unfortunately not available for this position.”

During debate on the bill, Colorado Springs Republican Rep. Janak Joshi questioned Rosenthal about why the state needed a government employee to study climate changes.

“We already have the Weather Channel,” he said. “Anybody who wants to see the climate change, turn on your TV and watch the Weather Channel. You can see the climate change, you can predict it. You can see how it was (the) day before, you can see what it will be tomorrow … It’s on my iPhone. I check it all the time – what is going to be the climate change?”

Loopiness aside, at least the bill made it into law. We’ll be watching to see what this czar gets up to.

At the two-thirds mark for meteorological spring, 2013 was the second coldest spring on record – slightly warmer than 1975.

Of course.. That is one of the methods the Earth has to balance the gases in the atmosphere. Too much CO2 and plants grow more, to much O2 and they grow less.. This has never been in question.. or at least always assumed if not proven... There is a limit though - and when that limit is exceeded then secondary balancing methods go into effect.. like the stopping/quickening/shifting of ocean currents and the jet stream. Things eventually balance out and the Earth moves on..

As humans we don't really want those secondary effects to take place as it could lead to the end of civilization as we know it.. In the past one of those secondary balancing effects included ice a mile thick where I am currently sitting, another reduced animal life by more than 90% - Who knows what caused the imbalance last time - Asteroids? huge super volcanoes? the sun having a century long fit? the introduction of a species that was able to run rapid for a few Milena without any counter balance?

You posted an article of findings by scientists. These same scientists will tell you we have a problem here that needs to be fixed. Why do you take the study that you want to be true as gospel but assume they don't know what they are talking about when the news is something you don't want to be true?

The one thing that seems a certainty is that all the prophets will be wrong, which ones will be the furthest out is open to debate,

Yet again assume the biggest alarmist is right, the sensible conclusion would be to make plans for the inevitable. Foolish to suppose it can be changed.

They're called scientists, not prophets. Scientific predictions, although not always dead on, are the most reliable predictions based on empirical evidence, data, and analysis. Your continued smug attitude towards the validity of that science only makes you look foolish. A cavalier disregard and willful ignorance of modern science.

Climate change is a reality and I do not think anyone is questioning that, nor is it alarmist to point it out.

Complacency, as many suggest, is always an option.

I agree, in fact I have never come across anybody saying otherwise.

Of course the climate changes. It has since the start of time.
