The Obamacare Shock

It's always a personal choice, to purchase insurance. I have to assume, rightly or wrongly, that folk without insurance made a decision not to purchase it.

I'd say you wrongly assume that. We're in a very similar boat here in Florida - not surprisingly since we've been wrecked by ideological Republicans for a long time too - and the more than 22% of Floridians that lack health insurance mostly don't have it because no affordable options are available to them. And it will remain that way for many of them for some time since the Florida legislature stupidly decided this eyar to keep these people uninsured while affording themselves full government sponsored health care coverage at an incredible $8.00 a month.

Of course, we will pay full price for Obamacare but we won't reap any of the economic benefits for our state. We leave the benefits to California and Oregon and other states that have legislatures that can do basic math. Same as you folks in Texas, by the way. You will be paying for California's improved health care insurance market and for the economic benefits that the state will reap from improved health care options and the improved access to health care for its population.

And when this reality hits home, do not thank Obama for it. Thank your state Republican Party.
