I don't think you will have to many issues but why don't you get to know this girl a little more before you decide to get married and spend the rest of your lives together. How well do you really know her after only 2 months?

Yes. That is why I am excited to go and visit her for 3 weeks maybe more if Immigration lets me.

Like another poster adviced you, take the time to get to know that girl better and then if all seems fine then take the next step. One step at the time. In my case I knew my fiance (now husband) for 2 years and he visited me 3 times and in the 3rd visit we got engaged. Now I thank God we knew each other quite well before we got into the K1 process... Make sure you know her and her family and well before you get into this journey of K1. Enjoy your trip to her country and learn her culture.

Good luck in your new journey! good.gif

PS: Take as many pictures possible in your trip and save any proof of visiting her, etc.

To sound like another crow in the corn field, definitely get to know her first and her culture. Things will always be different then we think/imagine, especially when we are finally living together. The more you understand about her, her culture, and the same for her too, the better of a decision both of you can make. This trip is definitely a great idea, and the longer you can stay the better. Though remember you two will be in "honeymoon" phase while together so while it will give you an idea it still will be an incomplete picture. Go, enjoy yourself, and the experience. Hope it's a great trip for you, and as everyone has already said take plenty of photos. Save any receipts for things you might to do together, or tickets. Also technically you do not need to physically meet each other to file a K1, but then you must prove within religious or with very strong evidence the reason why. However, it's definitely always best to meet each other face to face, as much and as often as possible or it's like shooting darts in a dark room.

Getting your visa extended past 21 days will be really easy. You can probably get it taken care of at the airport, if I remember correctly.

ETA: As others have said, take pictures of you and your fiancee together. And keep receipts. You'll want these later.

Isn't the requirement just to have met in person at least once?

Yes, for the the USCIS petition. However... a quick engagement or marriage after having met only recently is one of several fraud indicators for the embassy phase.

Some consular officers like to see a well established time length and frequency of visits or they are not going to approve the visa.

it is often embassy specific and even varies from one CO to another at the same embassy.

Discretion of CO=their personal opinion.

That's a first I am hearing :/

It might be the case for the high risk countries I assume ??

Cant someone fall in love after meeting one another for the first time?

It depends a lot on the country, but there are people who go online in certain countries who do their best to convince unsuspecting Americans to marry them, as soon as possible. They then go to the U.S. and either get married or use various domestic violence laws to get green cards. They take the U.S. citizen for all they can, divorce, then find another person.

If two people know each other for a very long time, and spend a lot of time in person, the chances of someone being duped are a lot lower, I would think.

What would Xenu do?

Yes true, but once again, I would think that would be a case for someone coming from a high risk country.

Why would anyone coming from a low risk country, leave their country to get a green card, when they can enter USA without a visa :/

The original poster's fiancee is in the Philippines, which would be a country from which people can't enter the USA easily.

Applications for people from low-risk countries go a lot more smoothly. They barely require any evidence, and are routinely approved.

Yes, it is mostly from high fraud countries though it can happen with low risk countries if a combo of other red flags exist. If someone is originally

from a high risk country but currently in a low risk country (students etc...) trying to immigrate it can also be viewed as an up-the-ladder- country -hopper.

*** One post has been split off into a new topic in the K-1 Process forum. This remaining thread essentially duplicates many others and is being closed because of its advancing age. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
