The documents she needs are from there. She needs to prove the reasons she must return to Nigeria when her visit is over. There is nothing you can send. She needs proof taht she is leaving family, properties, a better than average job things that will cause her to leave the US.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

You can send a letter inviting her to visit you , stating that you will pay for the tickets and her lodging / food. But sending anything like an I134 actually implies that you intend on her overstaying and immigrating which is totally the wrong impression to give them.

And remember, the I-134 is not legally enforceable...in fact, nothing you write on a piece of paper is enforceable. Your MIL will have to convince the VO that she will return to Nigeria when she says, and not engage in unauthorized employment while in B2 status. You play no role in that process.

Hi, just read your question. There is no standard documents that you send to her but u need to prove evidence of funds to take care of her visit, she does not need to show any financial statement since your paying for the trip. When I invited my mother inlaw, she didn't go with any of her financial details, if your mother inlaw has grand children, state the number in ur invitation letter or if her husband is still around, state that in your invitation, that should take care of family ties in Nigeria.

This a check list, not definite but just a guide.

Her appointment letter for interview, 2"x2" passport photograph, her international passport, letter of invitation from you stating purpose of visit and who is sponsoring the visit, your six months bank statements, your six months pay stub, copy of both ur wife and yours permanent resident card or US citizenship, u might include ur 3years income tax, not necessary but you never know.

I included affidavit of support when I invited my mother in law, though she told me they didn't look at it, but it shows ur ready to take absolute responsibility for her travel, it is not necessary but too much never hurts in US embassy in Nigeria.

Hope this helps.......goofy.gif

again, there is no legal means of forcing a third party to pay for expenses, etc, on behalf of another.....those letters of 'support' are merely window dressing. The VO is not really interested in reading or even considering such letters....what matters is whether or not the VOs believe that the applicant will depart the US when they say, and again, not engage in unauthorized employment (which, BTW, includes babysitting so parents can go to work and not have to pay for child care).

No one, repeat, no one can 'take responsibility' for expenses or activities of somebody admitted to the US in B2 status...for the simple reason that no one, save perhaps ICE, has any legal authority over another, nor can anyone be legally compelled to bear the costs of somebody else's visit.
