haha, I'm sure it's more honest that the WND website...but that's a pretty low standard. Not having read the Pyongyang Times, but knowing it's a state-run newspaper, I would still take it with a grain of salt, just like I would with ANY state-run newspaper...

Having been exposed to Politburo propaganda organs in the past, I am certain that the Pyongyang Times has - favorably speaking - questionable journalistic standards.

I think one always needs to consider the source, even down to the journalists.

However, please explain how NYT is government run? That was not something I was aware of. I thought it was owned by the New York Times Company?

The NYT has been used by both parties to get out the official line. Lately, Democratic administrations more so, but when public opinion needs to be swayed one way, or another, the NYT is the place to go, just like FNC is the place for the Republicans and the Jewish Lobby to try and find public support.

No. Actually, they had a very insightful and intelligent perspective on US politics and world affairs. During Republican administrations, I used to listen to Pacifica Radio, not just for the world music programs. I also was a fan of Mosiac TV.

You were tainted by the enemy.

Worth noting that there was a big difference between TASS and the actual newpapers - the "official organ of the central committee of the politburo". Yes, that is what they were actually called.

Still, in my opinion, it's not the same animal as a state-owned and run newspaper. In my experience, state-run newspapers exist with one agenda - to bolster public opinion about the government. Sometimes they do this by reporting inaccurate truths about other 'enemy' countries. NYT does not exist solely to bolster the US government.

This discussion could go on forever. I'm sure state-run newspapers do present some honest truths that aren't presented elsewhere. But they are presented under the guise of - 'our government is amazing.' And I'm sure independent newspapers sometimes print biased media. Again, I think everyone should consider the source, and get to know their journalists.
