Hi, im sorry for asking these questions, im sure they have been asked before, but I have been looking through the forums and cant find answers and some answers were from a while ago so I was wondering if anyone could give up to date answers cause I know some things change.

DS-230

Right Ive read that it is only part 1 (upto question 35) you fill in and send in on all of the websites. But I've also read on here in the london forum that recently they have been asking for part 2 in the London Embassy. So my question is.... Should I fill in part 1 and 2 (upto question 44) and send them in (apart from the bit that I need to sign when im there). Then at least it is all done, and if i dont need it then they can ignore that?? Or just send in 1 (upto question 35), and take in part 2 complete with me on the day so that if they need it I can just pull it out??

DS-2001

I've read that you need to send in a cover letter along with this form. Is there and example of one anywhere that I could use as a template, or can anyone give me a list of what to include in it.

DS-157

It asks for all of the different ways to spell your name. My name is Amy, so do I need to write in all of the different spellings because there is a LOT! Or shall I just put in Amy and also the same for my middle name Elizabeth

Thank you for you help. Again im sorry for repeating questions that have no doubt been asked, but I just really want to make sure I get it all right.

:)

You can fill it all in, but obviously, don't sign it until you are there. (I think there is a line on the form saying 'do not fill in below this line'.

DS-2001

I've read that you need to send in a cover letter along with this form. Is there and example of one anywhere that I could use as a template, or can anyone give me a list of what to include in it. My cover letter contained - My name, address, case number, LND number, what documents where in the envelope (if they were signed/unsigned and if there were 2 copies), the date for my medical.

DS-157

Or shall I just put in Amy and also the same for my middle name Elizabeth. Just put 'Amy'. The box is there for people with names spelt with non standard English letters.

Thank you for you help. Again im sorry for repeating questions that have no doubt been asked, but I just really want to make sure I get it all right.

Have you read the instructions on the embassy website?

Step Two

Assemble all of the documents required in support of your application. When you have obtained all of the required documents and are prepared for the visa interview, you are required to complete the Notification of Applicant(s) Readiness, Form 2001 and mail it to the Immigrant Visa Unit together with a covering letter containing your email address, if applicable, date of your wedding and date of the medical examination. See "Contact and Mailing Address" on the right-hand side of the page. Note: The failure to return the forms promptly will delay the processing of your application.

I would mail the DS2001 separately when the documents have been gathered. I would keep it simple and uncluttered so they find the information they asked for.

Re: Notification of Applicant(s) Readiness, Form 2001

Name: Amy Elizabeth xxxxxxxxx

Case number: LNDxxxxxxxx

E-mail: amy@gmail.com

Date of Wedding: 30-June-2013

Date of medical exam: 21-May-2013

[Then in this part you may add any information, special requests, or pleadings if you have any. Examples--

I will be out of the country until xxxx and would prefer an interview after that.

I would like to get to the US by xxxxx for my fiance's homecoming from deployment with the US Army.

I foolishly planned a formal wedding a year ago. Please help me get there if at all possible by assigning an interview before 10-June-2013. I am available on short notice and would take any cancellation appointment you may have.]

Hi Nich-Nick.

Yes I did read the insructions on the embassy website, but I was wondering if there was any further information that I should include in my letter.

Thank you for that template!

A cover letter in general is a polite nicety. It would be useful if you were doing something like seeking a job to introduce yourself and your resume' to a prospective employer.

If you want to send a cover letter with your four application forms, you can list what you are sending. With the DS-2001 they ask for some specific information to help them schedule. They used to have a form you filled out giving that info. So now they just say include it with the Ds-2001 in a cover letter.

For immigration, I don't think they care and I don't think the people you are trying to impress even see your list of what is included. I think they throw it away in the mail room when they organize the file...especially true of USCIS. Maybe the embassy keeps it if it also Includes the info they ask for with the DS-2001. It's just a personal opinion, and others may disagree. I've done the entire process now. The I129F petition was lovingly organized with a perfectly formatted cover letter. By the time the citizenship application rolled around, I just jammed the forms and minimum required evidence in a Priority Mail thing and sent it off. No frou-frou included. But don't let my ho-hum attitude keep you from making a lovely submission if that's how you think it should be.
