Need ideas for inexpensive ways to call to and from Turkey

As we are getting closer to my husbands interview date we are starting to think about the little things. One thing that came up was international calling.

Me and my husband us skype now. But there is no way his mom and dad can learn this. His mom can't even use a cell phone. I need to find an inexpensive way for him to call home or for them to call here.

Any idea's?

i use magicjack too. it is not only economical but the connection is also clear. a unit only costs $60( or it could have increased) and already includes a one year subscription (this means no monthly bills!!!) .all you need is an internet connection or there is also a unit that you just need to plug to your wall outlet. go check it out to find out its current pricing and new features.

I thought about Magicjack but he couldn't find any info there. Do I need to buy it here in the US and take it with me there?

you could purchase a skype number, it gives you a local phone number in a country of your choice. They can then call you on that number. Im not sure how much it costs for Turkey, but it cost us $25 for 3 months for an Australian number

The thing other countries may not realize with turkey is almost all people do not have a landline. Most people have cells. Magic jack doesnt allow the calls unlimited to cells in turkey.

If his parents do have a landline, just use skype. You can get unlimited calling to landlines in Turkey for cheap. Just get the skype to go option..where it makes it so you can just call from your phone to their phone.

They do have calling to cell phones. They used to have unlimited calling to turkey cells for 50 dollars a month but they cancelled it! I was so mad! But they still have like 500 mins a month, but turkish people lovveee to talk so it may not be enough

Using rebtel..its free if his parents have minutes. You set it up from you phone or computer, you call his moms number, she can answer and its like 12 cents a min, it was raised recently I think..or she can hit the end button and imediatly call the same number that came up on her cell, and they will be connected for free only using their own local minutes. If you have any more questions feel free to ask me! I go through this all the time..I had to cuz my fiance didnt have internet for a long time, so we had to somehow make due!

Also, before you fiance leaves to the US he could set up skype for them..if she has minutes, he can set up skype to go on her phone so all she has to do is call the saved contact and it will call your US number, unlimited calling for only 3 dollars to US cells! If she doesnt have minutes he can set it up on her computer or iphone and all she would have to do is click your name in contacts and call!!

BTW my parents have no idea from computers too. So I bought them a small netbook, they have it always open or they open it only, for example afternoon, and they don't do anything I just call them because it automatically Skype logs in. After 4 months they finally learned how to call but still for 4 months I was calling only.
