Hi guys! I have a few questions and i would rgeatly appreciate any info. So first, my wife's interview is already scheduled and i want to make sure i am ready with everything. First, my wife already has a tourist visa i believe it is b1 or b2 which permits her to visit the U.S. and also through permit travel. Is this going to be an issue at all at the interview? does it require some kind of waiver? Next question is, i have an idea of what to bring to the interview based on the appointment sheet but do i have to schedule anything at the consulate? Other then the medical? I hear alot of talk about designating a DHL office to have the visa delivered too but i dont know how... or if it is even required..What is recieved at the DHL office after approval?.Im assuming that we will bring Mexican passport, marriage certificate, Border crossing Visa, AOS package with proof, evidence, birth certificate, completed medical exam. Also am I allowed to go to the interview with my wife? Thank you in advance for any info!

She needs to schedule a fingerpritnts appointment too and I think you can't go in with her to the interview. I will stay with the kids at the hotel room because we can't go in with my hubby...

On the interview paper you received you will find some links. You have to go to those links and follow the instructions. Go to http://usvisa-info.com/en-MX/selfservice/ss_country_welcome and schedule an appointment for the biometrics. On that page too you will have to select the DHL where you want to receive your papers from the consulate...

Thank you for the reply. Ive tried register but i cannot do it. It seems to be like when i use the mexican passport info, my mother in laws name comes up and doesnt allow me to register my wife. I think this is due to the fact that my wife obtained a tourist visa a couple of years back. I will try the link again to see if i can schedule the biometrics and where the visa will be delivered to. I really thought that the biometrics where taken the day of the interview. What im worried about is that my wife had a traveler visa and recieved traveling permits regularly but never overstayed. I read tho that this might cause us to have to get a waiver? is this true? Any info would be appreciate it... I want to me make sure everything goes as planned and there arent any problems... really need my wife.

i'll try to help as much as possible with your questions. I did the IR 2 visa recently and went through simlar situations, although she never visited so i can't advise on the tourist visa thing.

In regards to the website, if you can't register, simply call the consulate at 703-439-2313. I had the same issue where it wouldn't let me register, i called them and they set up the biometrics appt with me on the phone. You'll need the passport number of the applicant to set up the appointment. They're very kind. They'll even help you set up the place where the visa goes (the DHL office). One thing i will say about this - they say it's two weeks, but if everything goes well, it's more like 2 days. Interview was wednesday morning and i had visa in hand on Friday. So, if you want to cross at El Paso, just set up Juarez as your DHL office.

As you probably already know, ensure that she has your long form birth certificate as well as the certificate of any US born children you have. They do ask for this at the interview. I also included an updated employment letter (my original was in November 2012) on company letterhead, which didn't hurt either.

as far as scheduling it's up to you and i believe it's based on the time they give you your appt. The interview was at 7:15 am on a wednesday so we did the medical on Monday (leaving me tuesday if there was any problems) and tuesday we did the biometrics. If you choose to do your bio on the same day as your medical i would do in the afternoon. She'll get in line about 6 am for the medical, takes anywhere from 2-4 hours, depending on vaccines needed, and you won't get results until afternoon. Since everything is so close together, biometrics isn't hard if you do decide to do in the same day. Ensure you have ds 260 confirmation page (assuming thats the app you filled out for her) and interview letter with passport and you're good for bio appt.

As far as the interview, they do allow you to wait in the sala de espera. It's a huge waiting room where the applicant has their paperwork checked and they get in line (either a line or sit down in order similar to making a line - depending on volume) and you can wait for her there. there's a oxxo stand inside the sala de espera, make sure you take loose change if you want to use the bathroom. wait is from 2-3 hours. the waiting room advises 3-5 hours, but it's not that long.

Oh and if you have time, go to Barriga's. Great place for a meal smile.png

Sorry for the late reply. Thank you so much for the review and info i got my appointment scheduled by phone and dhl office designated as well... Now just wondering how much the medical is going to cost me lol as my wife lost her vaccination record. She is 21 at this moment so who knows what shots they will give her. Again, thank you all for all the replies.
