Im ahead of myself but I have been reading about the CFO lately. We are still waiting for NOA2 but I want to know when can we take the CFO? Is it after the medical or just anytime before the Embassy interview? Thanks VJ crew

You can take it anytime before or after the medical/interview. If you do it before you just have to go back and get them to stamp your passport since you'll only have the certification.

01/15/12 - Sent Aya a message on a dating site
03/10/12 - We became "exclusive"
03/15/12 - We told each other "I love you"
08/17/12 - 2 week trip to the Philippines to be with her
08/27/12 - I asked her to marry me (in Cebuano), she cried and said yes
09/02/12 - I came back to the USA

Started on the paperwork

09/22/12 - Mailed I-129F
09/25/12 - Saw on USPS that the package was delivered in Texas
09/28/12 - NOA1
10/08/12 - Received hard copy NOA1
12/19/12 - CFO Counseling Session (to get it out of the way)
04/27/13 - NOA2
05/06/13 - NVC Received and MNL # assigned
05/21/13 - Medical Exam Day
06/04/13 - Interview Day
xx/xx/xx - Visa Arrived
xx/xx/xx - Off to Chicago

Thanks for the reply. Is it a preferred time to do it or it really doesnt matter. We filed in March so I know we have several months to wait for the NOA2

A lot of K1 visa get their CFO a day before their flight but it is so much hassle because some of the counselor require supporting documents or one on one counseling depending on your case, and you have to get another appointment with them before you could get your guidance and counseling certificate. Some miss their flight because of that!

So i suggest get your GC certificate right after your fiancee get her Visa so she could already have the sticker within that day, but be sure its weeks before her actual flight.

and remind her to bring supporting documents like picture of you together, divorce paper if you are divorced, she should know your mothers maiden name, and your address and zip code, your actual job and educational attainment.

She should know you well because she will answer a lot of things about you in the CFO form.

I got my CFO certificate just last week.

Genesis 2:22-24
Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman, ' for she was taken out of man." For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

I have never read of a time restriction for attending CFO. Getting it completed early for sure would ease things later, then you only need to go back to get your sticker after you have your visa.

We started this process in March and she already got her CFO & passport. Its never too early.

My wife and I received NOA1 earlier this month. She plans on getting her CFO Seminar completed at the end of the month. Jeff is right, it's never too early to get the CFO Seminar completed. In my opinion, the early the better since that will give you one less requirement to worry about.
