Suffering no, suffered, probably.

I see. Because someone proclaiming to be a follower of Islam does something horrible, it is justified to be an Islamophobe. Are you also a Christianophobe seeing that people that profess to be Christians do really horrible things? How about being Americanophobe seeing all the death and destruction that America and Americans have brought to so many places around the world?

Proclaiming?

Omar Bakri Mohammed, the cleric who founded the now-banned extremist group al-Muhajiroun, has said he tutored Adebolajo after his conversion and the young man started coming to meetings of the group at a time when anger was high over the war in Iraq. The cleric described him as a shy man who would ask questions about when violence was justified.

Another potentially significant event was Adebolajo's arrest in 2010 in Kenya close to the border with Somalia. Kenyan authorities say they believe he was preparing to train and fight with the al-Qaida-linked Somali militant group al-Shabaab.

Adebolajo was later deported, but not before he was tortured, according to a friend who said the Londoner had gone abroad to study. Abu Nusaybah, who was arrested shortly after making the allegations in a BBC interview, in part attributed Adebolajo's radicalisation to his alleged ill-treatment in Kenya.

Radical Islam, Islamism if that is somehow a better term, is a political corruption of Islam. I hope guys like the writer of your article are successful but even his story indicates that the phenomenon exists. Mainstream Muslims should not be lumped in with such groups, but concerns about Radical Islamism, and the fact Islamism more often than not arises from people who initially start out engaged in Mainstream Islam, should not be summarily dismissed as the religious equivalent of racism.

The situation is greatly complicated and not well served by total denial the problem exists on one hand vs unfair use of the problem to smear every Muslim.

Who is totally denying the problem exists? Faux News likes to say Muslims deny the problems exist but NONE of them do. No one. Maybe not enough effort is made to work with the authorities on keeping tabs on more radical people but the police and FBI, especially in the US, didn't help their cause by unleashing COINTELPRO-like investigations on every Mosque in every major city. But this is something that needs to be addressed by people from within the community, and there are people like Maajid Nawaz doing just that. Although the FBI and MI5 clearly knew about the men behind the bombing in Boston and the murder in Woolwich, so you can't just blame the Muslim community.

Deny is the wrong word. Difficult to deny.

There does seem to be a fall back to the religion of Peace, and whilst not being religious myself I know enough history to know that is a load of tosh. Same goes for the Old Testament.

Are you asking whether Islamophobia is justiied? I don't think it is. How about you?

You would not think Luftwafaphobia would be justified during the battle of Britain.

I do agree with your comments, the only thing that anyone should be worried about are those that are taking advantage and corrupting the Islamic faith. There are indeed many people who are doing just that. And I agree, it's wrong.
