Using the ELIS system to pay immigrant fee ($165.00)

So took me a while to get through it and, having created about 8 secret questions and answers, finally submitted payment.

An hour later, I receive an email from the USCIS stating that:

'USCIS has taken action on your application/petition and updated your account. Please access your account to view the update.'

So I log back onto my account and nothing has changed- it still says 'accepted' with the status: Your application/petition has been accepted and is pending review.

When I called them up, they didn't really answer my question, but said it would ultimately take about 30 DAYS to get the Green Card through- (NOT MORE WAITING!)

So was the original email to tell me they had received the payment and are now preparing to make decision, OR that decision has been made and account hasnt updated yet...

When I made my payment we received a I-797 by mail shortly after with a new receipt number on it. Once we had that we were able to track the progress on the web site to see where we were during the various stages of the green card production and delivery. If you see my signature below you can see we received ours relatively quickly.

The payment system seems quite separate from the actual processing of the green card and is pretty much useless for updates after you've completed that step.

Each applicant pays their own fee. The only shared fee through any of this is the AOS as far as o am aware.

I just thought that minor children who automatically become USC upon POE doesnt have to pay that..

I don't know about minor children who become USC after POE. Is this because their parent is a USC? Perhaps they don't have to pay? I don't know about that. They wouldn't need a green card so I would hope that they don't pay. I don't know if it is paid just for processing the paperwork too? I'm sorry. I don't want to give you the wrong information.

Lets look at that another way, aye?

The child is eligible for USCitizenship after walking out of the POE.

The POE stamp in the passport plus the visa stamp serves as 1 year temp green card, an I-551 document.

When doing any USCitizen Paperwork (passport app, N-400, etc) ya use the photocopies of the 3 passport pages (bio page, visa stamp, POE stamp) to show valid greencard, I-551 document

and that's it.

You're thinking is correct, one doesn't pay the fee when one matches your situation, exactly.

My child was born before my husband became a USC. Definitely will follow what Darnell suggested on NOT paying the fee for the child.

I need help in paying fee through ELIS. I ahve to pay 165each for myself and daughter. I made account and was trying to pay for both but could not add some error and decided to pay for myself and paid 165$ later when tried to add my daughter i got it but now unable to pay for daughter separately through this account, so how can I pay through this account add my daughter as memeber nd pay for her only

2ndly after two still i got no receipt just pay.gov automated email and amount deucted through card how much time it takes to receive it

I would be careful about not paying the fee, even if your child is the child of a US citizen (as is the case with us). Read here:
