Hi all.

I have now received my k1 visa and have booked me and my son our flights (he has dual American citizenship).

I know usually if you don't have a visa you would go through ESTA and sort all that out online. My question is do I need to do anything online to show I am going on a K1 visa before I go onto my flight. Also I assume my son they will just scan his American passport.

Also on my information with my tickets it states that if you are travelling to the USA I need to give some Secure Flight Passenger Data, what is this and how do I do it? It says if i don't do this I could get a fine or refused entry...i'm so confused!?

The travel agency only told me to do online the Advanced Passenger Information APIS, they don't deal with these other things.

PLEASE HELP!

Thanks

Sinead

You do not need ESTA or any online thing to travel on your K-1 visa.

You can give that information at the airport. The airlines do it automatically. Often they ask you for it (it's your DOB, maybe passport number, gender) when you book tickets online. You can also call the airline and tell them you want to add that information to your ticket beforehand. Good luck and happy trails!

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

I had to point out to the airline staff at check-in that I was travelling on a K1 visa, as they still had me on file travelling on ESTA from my previous trips. As I had a one-way ticket, they probably wouldn't have let me board the connecting flight to the U.S. with ESTA only. Anyway, you don't really need to do anything beforehand, if you don't do the APIS online, they'll ask you for the data at check-in.

K-1 visa holders do not pay an immigration fee.

I haven't heard of any other fee for immigration, not for k1 anyway? I paid for my visa before I had the K1 interview at the Embassy. I had to take this fee receipt with me to prove this to them, otherwise I wouldn't of got issued the visa.
