k1 visa approved, wedding in 7 weeks, should my parents bother to get a tourist visa to attend our wedding?

K1 visa approved, wedding in 7 weeks, should my parents bother to get a tourist visa to attend our wedding? or is it too late now?

2013-08-13 - Sent AOS package (I-485/I-765/I-131 for K1; I-485/I-131 for K2)

2013-08-21 - E-notification text & email with case numbers. Receipt date for I-485 was 2013-08-15. Receipt date for I-765 and I-131 was 2013-08-20.

2013-08-24 - Received hard copy NOA1 for K1's I-485, I-765, and I-131. No NOA1 received for K2's I-485 and I-131.

2013-08-30 - Received biometrics appointment letters for 2013-09-13. Sent Request for Rescheduling form to re-reschedule biometrics.

2013-09-04 - Biometrics processing stamp (early walk-in / Infopass)

2013-09-10 - Received a second set of biometrics appointment letters so I sent back copies of our biometrics processing stamps to three offices: Alexandria BPU, NBC, and Vermont Service Center.

2013-09-23 - E-notification: change of Case Status (I-485 K1&K2 ready for interview scheduling)

2013-09-26 - Received a third biometrics appointment letter (to K1 only). Ignored.

2013-10-10 - E-notification: Interview appointment notice for 11/13/13

2013-10-14 - Received hard copy interview letter in the mail

2013-10-18 - E-notification: "name change relating to I-765"; E-notification: 1-131 approved (K1)

2013-10-22 - Received AOS interview cancellation notice by mail

2013-10-23 - E-notification: change of Case Status (I-485 K1&K2 interview cancelled) ; E-notification: I-765 approved; E-notification: 1-131 approved (K2)

​2013-11-13 - I-485 Interview for K1&K2. Approved

2015-03-30 - Divorced

Not to be a downer, but I heard it's next to impossible to get a Tourist Visa from PI to the USA.

Over 7k K1/CR1 visas are approved each year from Manila, it's next to impossible to get one because they are afraid the people leaving will just stay in the US and not come back to PI.

That's just what I've heard though.

01/15/12 - Sent Aya a message on a dating site
03/10/12 - We became "exclusive"
03/15/12 - We told each other "I love you"
08/17/12 - 2 week trip to the Philippines to be with her
08/27/12 - I asked her to marry me (in Cebuano), she cried and said yes
09/02/12 - I came back to the USA

Started on the paperwork

09/22/12 - Mailed I-129F
09/25/12 - Saw on USPS that the package was delivered in Texas
09/28/12 - NOA1
10/08/12 - Received hard copy NOA1
12/19/12 - CFO Counseling Session (to get it out of the way)
04/27/13 - NOA2
05/06/13 - NVC Received and MNL # assigned
05/21/13 - Medical Exam Day
06/04/13 - Interview Day
xx/xx/xx - Visa Arrived
xx/xx/xx - Off to Chicago

K1 visa approved, wedding in 7 weeks, should my parents bother to get a tourist visa to attend our wedding? or is it too late now?

Just recently (here on VJ) parents of a K-1 got their tourist visa approved to attend the wedding, so its possible... but as with all things at the embassy... never know until its done.

Yes very hard for single people there for example, both of my sister in laws were denied (both are single in early 30s, never married). My parents in law were approved and issued 10 Year B2s. Much easier for older parents, married, other children still in Philippines etc.

your wedding will be 7 weeks from now. Another thing to be considered here is the appointment date too.

Thanks for the comments. I'm really more concerned of the B2 application timeline (fill out DS160 -> gather docs -> interview -> visa processing & delivery -> book flight) than the %chance of getting an approval. Is the 7 weeks window realistic ?

The crucial part is knowing what is the nearest available interview date for B2 visas. I did mine in 5-6 weeks (but that was back in 2008) and it depends on the number of people applying for that specific month.

I logged in to check the available interview date 1st week of October, found the nearest available date Nov 3 (gathered documents and had the interview) by Nov 5 visa was in my hand. Of course, I still have to book my flight but it wasn't an urgent one as I was just going to visit my then fiance now husband.

So until you know what is the available interview date, only then can you decide if 7 weeks is doable or not. As a word of caution and as other people here have posted, visa approval is on a case to case basis.
