Passport return after interview

Hi,

What are the ramifications if one decides to have his passport back after the interview for CR1. As in Islamabad Consulate, its taking 1-2yrs in AP, I dont want to get my passport stuck for that long as I need to travel for work.

Has anyone done the same? can they share their experience.

When they took your passport at interview did they say how long will it take?

I just had my interview and they said they will courier the passport in 2 weeks.

But the status on CEAC website still shows it at interview stage.

Now I am a bit worried if it takes longer and they have my passport as well.
