I don't think anyone will riot if he is convicted. If GZ and TM were both white, or if GZ and TM were both black, I don't think this would even be a story. I know there wouldn't be 30 threads on it in P&R.

I remember this time in the early 90s when some white guys were found innocent of kicking a black guy's ####. People burned down a good part of L.A. over it. Not to mention Liberty City and Overton prior to that. Granted those cases involved the police doing the killing.

That's what I think.

As I said. There is no issue here at all unless you are racist.

Wrong still. But what else is new? It's 10, actually. 6 jurors and 4 alternates.

On what planet is a person tried for a felony with 6 jurors? Thats called a "petit jury" and is used for misdemeanors. The article made an error.

I am confident that many jurors will understand that they likely won't be putting themselves in the position old George did i.e. making a series of poor decisions that lead them to shooting someone, or perhaps when the prosecution wraps up its case, seeing themselves deciding to cause a confrontation in hopes of getting to shoot someone as perhaps is more likely what ole George was hoping for.

Good ole George wasn't defending his own home.

Good ole George wasn't supposed to be carrying a gun on neighborhood watch duty.

Good ole George may have to pay the piper.

Unanimous decision. I am confident that "many" jurors will agree with you. I am also confident that ALL of them won't.

GZ walks.

Who is the "they" you are talking about? Ultimately, it is the judge, and she has already demonstrated no tolerance for the antics of the defense team. Usually the only time a defense team will go to such extraordinary means to pollute the jury pool, is because they don't have either the facts, or the law, on their side.

They. Prosecution team.

The judge has no choice but to allow the defense team their statutory say in the jury selection. this is not antics, this is law. Period.

The reasons for accepting or striking a juror are irrelevent.

In order to get a conviction, there must be 12 jurors who unanimously agree to convict. GZ gets a say in who those 12 people are. Feel free to imagine otherwise.

Your knowledge of law is fail. http://www.flsd.uscourts.gov/?page_id=1136

the U.S. Supreme Court held that the number 12 was not an essential element of trial by jury (Williams v. Florida, 399 U.S. 78, 90 S. Ct. 1893, 26 L. Ed. 2d 446), and it has sanctioned juries of no fewer than six members in criminal cases (Ballew v. Georgia, 435 U.S. 223, 98 S. Ct. 1029, 55 L. Ed. 2d 234 [1978]). Parties in federal district courts, as well as in many state courts, can stipulate that the jury size be any number between six and 12. Commonly, federal district court juries consist of six persons for civil cases.

It also takes all six jurors to acquit him. Absent an unanimous decision either way, a mistrial is declared, a new jury is seated, and we do this all over again.

Only if the prosecution decides to retry the case. Which in this case is a near 100% probability. Two trials mean more TV time for the attorneys. More TV time means more recognition. More recognition mean more $ when you sign that contract with Fox/MSNBC/CNN to be an on air legal analyst.

No, they do not. Nobody but a first degree murder defendant would ever be convicted of anything in the sunshine state if it took 12 jurors to get a conviction. Why? Well, because unless someone is tried for first degree murder here, there is no 12 person jury. The jury size in Florida is six; the only exception to that is a first degree murder trial where a 12 member jury is required. George Zimmermann is not tried for first degree murder and at his trial there will thus not be a 12 member jury.

I pointed out to you previously that there will be 10 jurors selected for this trial - 6 will be seated and 4 will be alternates. Got it now?

The planet earth, country USA, State of Florida.

HOPEFULLY you will also be wrong about being able to shoot and kill a child in a confrontation you started with piss poor judgment trying to be Joe Swat, and then thought you might just claim 'I was scared for my life' and then it's all made better.

Unless he is found not guilty, ol George's plan to play cop for a day has gone horribly wrong. Can't say I blame George for being a little stressed.
