Hi all, i don't know if this is the right place for this topic.

So today i just got my GC for 2 years and i am asking about changing name on my passport. My name on GC just first name and my surname ( married name ) so there is no maiden name on it. And now on my passport, i am still using my first name with my maiden name.

my question is, if i want to change my name on passport just like name on GC, what should i do? should i going to the court or just contact my consulate? my passport will be expired on 2015 too same year with my GC expired year and i am thinking to change the name later but i need to know first how to do that

Thank you

You can do a search as to how to renew a passport for your country in th US. You might need to go to your country's embassy here in the US to get it renewed and changed to your married name to match your green card. I think some countries will do it through the mail too. You just need to find out the procedure for your country.

oh i forgot, on my EAD / AP , given name still my first name with my maiden name & my surname, so if i am going to make SSN & state ID, which one would be? name like on my GC or name use maiden name too?

Make them match your green card. The EAD/AP is no longer needed or valid now that you have the green card.

No. You no longer need the EAD/AP card at all. The green card allows you to work and travel. You can just put the EAD/AP away and keep it as a memento if you like.

Removing? You mean remove conditions on your 2 year green card? You need to do that within the 90 days before your green card expires. Most people file as soon as possible once they hit that 90 days before the expiration date. You cannot file before that, or it will be rejected for filing too soon.

Yes, the earliest you can file for ROC would be Feb. 13, 2015. You just need to send it so it is accepted by the USCIS within those 90 days before it expires. You do not need your passport for ROC. You need to start saving evidence of co-mingling to prove a bona fide marriage though. The evidence you send with ROC needs to span the entire length of your marriage > http://www.visajourney.com/content/751guide

Now that you have your green card, it should only take a couple weeks to get the SSN and state ID. You could possibly get the state ID the same day you go into the DMV for it. You will just need to check on the procedures and requirements for your state,

ROC takes 6-7 months.

I have a story about trying to match names.

Husbands first Social Security card based on K1 was "John Smith" as written on the I-94. They said it had to match the database.

His greencard came "John R. Smith". He went to Social Security to get the restricted wording removed and update his status. They changed his card to match the greencard because it has to match immigration documents. Driver license office was the same.

He became a US citizen and the certificate was issued "John Robert Smith". Social Security and DMV again had to change his SS card and driver license to match.
