The immigrant visa checklist states that they need a BIRTH CERTIFICATE for each the applicant and the petitioner. I was born in Europe and became a NATURALIZED US CITIZEN. Do I still need to send him an original certified copy of my European birth certificate? Also I did not send him my original paper of NATURALIZATION. Is the original required or is a photo copy of the Naturalization certificate okay and is it required that it is a certified copy?

Color copy of Nat certificate and copy of US passport would be fine.

Thats what I was thinking but the checklist for immigrant visa says Birth Certificate from applicant AND petitioner. I send him a copy of my Naturalization paper but didnt notirize it. Do you think that would be a problem?

I am also a naturalized citizen from Europe and I only provided a non-notarized copy of my naturalization certificate. Was never asked for anything else so no, no birth certificate needed for naturalized U.S. Petitioner in Jamaica.

So i just received a email back from the embassy that they do need the original birth certificate. The problem is that mine is not in English. I didnt need a birth certificate to become a US Citizen i dont know why they r so hang up on getting that so i hope that it is okay i will also send the original of my naturalization and just pray that it doesnt get lost in the mail. I cant wait for all this to be over with.....

Strange.....Seems it varies from case to case then. Where I'm from, we don't even have birth certificates so I wouldn't have been able to give them one even if I wanted to! Your naturalization certificate should be enough, perhaps with an explanation of why you don't have a "regular" birth certificate.....Good luck!

In Jamaica they do ask for petitioner & beneficiary BC, don't know about elsewhere, doesn't

matter if petitioner is naturalized

Bro dropped off a friend 7 wkas ago for

kgn interview CR1, person had to have BC for themself

& petitioner, guess every case is different, but it was

requested (org)

Last email from them today, after I spend 60$ on UPS the originals of what they asked they now say they Do not need what they asked for!!! Smh

Good day Sir/Madam

Please note that we do not need your birth certificate or naturalization certificate. When the applicant comes for the interview, the Consular Officer will make the necessary request of any outstanding documents. Please note that the checklist in the package are the requirements for the applicant and not the petitioner. You might have received a package on behalf of the applicant because sometimes they do not receive their package for some reason or the other.

The only document needed from you is a affidavit of support (form I-134)completed and signed with ORIGINAL SIGNATURE, recent tax return, W2 statement and job letter or pay stub. These can be submitted via courier to U.S. Embassy Kingston, Attn: Consular Section, 30 Munroe Road, Kingston 6, Jamaica. Please ensure that you affix the case number that begins KNG along with 10 digits follow. Affidavit of support is unacceptable via email, fax or photocopy.

Also, if a request is made for your naturalization certificate, you can copy and send via email (no notarizing is needed).

We look forward to continue serving you.

Regards

Kingston IV
