After IRS, Benghazi scandals, public trust shifts to GOP

The GOP will $crew up in the next 3 years, bank on it. By then all these manufactured scandals and conspiracies will just irritate the average voter. You know they'll beat this horse far too long; they always do.

You're probably right. Even if everything goes the Republicans way and the public really does start moving towards them; some congressman somewhere is going to decide to talk about rape or abortion.

However, I don't feel that the IRS and AP scandals are manufactured. And these really could cause problems for the Obama administration. Until some congressman agrees to an interview. argh!!

These scandals are largely manufactured. The IRS has gone after tax exempt organizations for Lord knows how long. The fact that they went after liberal religious organizations ahead of the 2004 election never really made national headlines. Do I believe that the Bush White House directed the IRS to do that? No, I do not. Same as I do not believe that the Obama White House had anything to do with the IRS scrutinizing tea party organizations. All that happened in an IRS unit, let us not forget, that was managed by a lady that was appointed to that job by George W himself. There's no scandal there regardless of what show Darrell Issa is putting on in D.C.

The AP "scandal"? I don't know. What I do know is that it has no legs.

Either way, the Republicans are going to overplay their hand - they're already doing that - and this will not help them at all. Can't blame them for wanting to milk this cow for all it's worth but the reality is that they're about to hit sour milk. So keep going, I say. Keep going.

Yeah, yeah. I've heard this doomsday laba laba for over 4 years now. And somehow, the economy keeps improving, housing market is coming back, jobs are being created and the deficit is less than half in 2013 versus what W has left Obama in 2009. Imagine Republicans would actually have focused on jobs and the economy after gaining the majority in the House instead of focusing on the vaginas of America's women. We could actually be doing really well by now. Wait until the House blows the lid off and tanks Immigration Reform - and they will. And they will also continue to put up their bigoted fight against marriage equality - it's in their DNA, they can't help it. Americans won't stand for it.

No small wonder their party is now being called the Repuplican't Party... They went from 'party of no', to 'party of no can do.'..

I agree on the AP phone records probe. The press should be free of any kind of government harassment or covert investigation.

The IRS probe I'm still on the fence until we get the whole story, because I've heard wild accusations that so far haven't been entirely proven.

There must be something there, because Steny Hoyer and a few other prominent Democratic leaders are running scared over the IRS thing and privately suggesting ways to cut their losses. Some progressive members of Congress are expected to figure significantly in the investigation. Just a heads up.

This is a clear distinction in tact that only Conservatives seem to embrace.

Politicians should already know that public statements make excellent political ads for your opponent. Nobody has ever said that becoming publicly enraged is a huge asset; well, except in the WWE.
