We have a pittbull, a cocker and 2 weenie dogs. The pittbull hates the cocker and tries to attack him all the time.

We bought a dog run, chain link 6 ft high, to keep her in when I go to work and when we go away for Thanksgiving.

The spoiled brat has chewed a hole in it....she is bleeding and the hole is big enough for a weenie dog to get through.

We leave in 7 hours and I don't know what to do!!

We have an electric wire thing around the fence that shocks her if she tries to jump. I am thinking of wrapping that around the run. Anyone know if this will work? Or any ideas on how to keep her in? Shock collar? Anything? :help:

Hi i don't have dogs, but i would think electric wire would work around the run. where are the other dogs? if they are outta site your pit bull may be less likely to try to get out. and of course our pets are our babies so you can't get rid of any. best of luck and happy thanksgiving

Sounds like she really hate him...Did he came to your house after her? Maybe she's only doing her "job" protecting her territory from strangers...

Is there a way to avoid your pittbull from seeing him?

PM me, comportational issues are not easy to deal with and looks like you need some quick fix for now.

Edit: I think the electric wire is a bad idea.

Shoot the pitbull.

Is that an American pitbull?

Those dogs are banned down under..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

An electric fence will do little or nothing to cage in a dog like that. If it is chewing through a chain link fence you will need a heavier fencing material. Perhaps Iron Bars. or 4 x 4 concrete reinforcing wire or something.

I would think that electrifying the fence might stop the dog from chewing on it. It would then probably just leap over it 6' is nothing for a powerfull dog with its mind set on getting out.

When we had dogs like that, we kept thim locked in wooden pens. The runs were 6' high chain link and there was no way that was going to hold them for long. It at least took them a while to get through the wood and didnt hurt their mouths so much.

call the dog whisperer...seriously...I've watched that show several times (gotta love watching tv when an open house is slow).....he's amazing, seems to cure any behavioral problems quite easily.

On the more probable chance you don't get picked, maybe watch the show for ideas....they're always giving tips. I dunno what channel it's on though.

National geographic channel. :)

I think you should call the dog whisperer too, that's also what I thought of immediately when I read this, and if you get on the show tell us. :P

Ok well I put the wire on and it does work. The whole thing is electrified. The weenie got a zap too lol.

We have a cover on it so she can't jump.

Trust me I would get rid of her but she is Caseys dog so I can't.

The cocker and one daschund are new. She is fine with the daschund but hates the cocker. We have tried over and over to get them to get along but so far nothing. We have muzzled her to keep them in a room together and that works but it can't be left on long and when it comes off she jumps on him again.

Even if they do get along I don't trust leaving a pitbull alone with them because you just never know what will happen.

I went to the dog whisperer site but did not register, maybe I will.

The dog whisperer is awesome.

It's easy to blame the pitbull, but is quite possible the cocker is prompting the behavior. When you have the time you should muzzle the pit, and watch the two of them together. Body language shows you a lot.

I kept blaming my wheaten for the fights in our house. The more I started trying to correct the behavior and actually watching what was taking place, turns out my passive springer mix was instigating. When she would approach anywhere near him, he would stand very still with his head tilted to the side, staring at her out of the corner of his eyes. When I noticed him doing this I began to work on his behavior rather than hers. Six months into this, we very seldom have any sort of aggression problems. We have the occasional grumbling when one hasn't finished their meal and the other comes into the kitchen.
