AOS Interview Approved!!!

We had our AOS Interview today at 8am. We arrived at 7:30am and went through security. We were told to go to window 8 to check-in. The IO called us a few minutes after 8am for our interview. She advised us that we are under oath and can leave at any time if we don’t want to continue with the interview. She asked for both of our IDs. She had our huge file with her that contained all of the information we sent in along the way. She asked my husband (applicant) a few basic questions, such as his name, dob, address, phone number, where he was born, when he arrived in the US, where he entered the US, if he left the US since his arrival, and then she asked those “have you ever” questions from the I-485 form. As she was asking these questions, she marked off each answer question with a red mark once answered. She asked when and where we got married. She asked if we had any wedding pictures. We explained we didn’t have any because we got married at the courthouse and we had no family/friends present. My husband explained that we plan to have a gathering later on with both of our families. She asked if he has ever been married and if he has kids. She asked for certified copies of both of our birth certificates and our marriage license. She noted on her copies that she saw the originals and gave them back to us. She asked him for his story. She wanted to know when we met, where we met, and all of the details. She asked if we had any documents showing joint accounts. We gave them to her and explained each one to her. She asked if they were copies for her to keep.

Then she said she was going to ask some questions regarding the medical exam. As she asked him the questions, she was typing the answers on her computer. Then she printed off the questions and answers and reviewed them with him saying that he will sign the form saying that the information is true and correct. She went to get another IO to use as a witness before he signed the form. The other IO left the room and our IO said congratulations, I’m recommending you for approval. She gave us a form with instructions about filing for I-751, Petition to Remove the Conditions of Residence. The whole interview took about 40 minutes. Once we got home, we checked the USCIS website for a status update and it says on May 23, 2013, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you.
