Working. How's that?
working? :(

Yep. The only holidays I have for sure are those where the US and Canada bank holidays fall on the same day - that could be considered a downside of working in a cross-border banking capacity. I have 4 set holidays a year, I think. To me this is great. See, the upside is that this set-up gives me 8 days additional on my vacation time boosting that up to 28 days/year.

Since I am an immigrant myself, most American holidays - such as Thanksgiving, MLK day, Presidents day etc. - don't really mean a first thing to me anyways.

Mom quit cooking about 4 years ago, it was such a hassle and we all felt a bit bloated and blah eating then just sitting around the house so now we go to the famous Zehnder's restaurant, who do an excellent Thanksgiving meal. http://www.zehnders.com/. They also have some excellent excellent holiday cheer wine. It's nice to go out to a bustly holiday atmosphere eat, have a walk around and window shop then head home. Makes a nice change...plus, no dishes!

And so he did what countless punk-rock songs had told him to do so many times before: he lived his life

10/07/2006 WEDDING DAY!

11/14/2006 AOS packet made it to 'the box' after being overnighted.

12/02/2006 Paul had biometrics

12/14/2006 AOS Forwarded to CSC AND AP Application approved.

01/17/2007 First touch of 2007 at CSC

01/20/2007 Touched AGAIN (also the 18th) come on...

February: Oops, RFE for a REGISTERED marriage certificate. Oops! Overnighted it.

02/28/2007 Paul gets email letting us know his GREENCARD is on it's way! It's done...for now!

03/09/2007 Paul's greencard arrives. And breathe...

We began with mailing the I-129 in on February 27, 2006 so the whole process took us approx. one year.

Good luck out there!

I'll be home for most of the day with my two children. The oldest is vegetarian so I'll cook a couple of tofurkeys for all of us with the usual Thanksgiving fixings. In the evening I MIGHT go to my cousin's home. She and her husband just moved to Dallas in July. Aunts, brother, and other cousins will gather there. I tend to be a hermit on Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love doing my own thing with my children here in my tiny apt and they seem to like it that way, too :)

Hope everyone has a very blessed day tomorrow!

It's always extra fun when it's our SO's first Thanksgiving in the US. :D

Definitely! :D

This time last year Wadi had just had his interview and we were waiting in security checks, so he arrived a couple weeks after Thanksgiving.

This year we're also going to my aunt and uncle's. My aunt always puts out a great spread, I'm usually stuffed already after all of her hors d'ouvres (sp.?). This year she's making escargot because she knows Wadi likes it so much! I lucked out - all I have to make is the cranberry sauce!

I saw the tofurkey rerun of Everybody Loves Raymond last night. So funny!

I will be working thursday, friday and saturday. Since I am alone here I decided to volunteer to work so those that have families can be home. It's also a chance to really rake in the cash since both thursday and friday are paid holidays for me!

I bought a small smoked turkey, some stuffing and a frozen pumpkin pie. I will have my own little feast when I get home from work. Hopefully this will be the last Thanksgiving I will be doing by myself. I so look forward to having Luz and Robin with me for the holidays.

That's very respectable of you, Gary. I hope you see the favor returned when Luz and her son are here!
