Haven't really been on here lately as I've entered the US, got married, etc! Now it's time to start yet another series of paperwork :((

For the adjustment of status (i'm here on a K1 fiance visa) what is my A #?? Or file number? Its asked for this a few times and I have no clue what that number is!

When I was actually coming through the border into US, the border agent couldn't find that number either, and tried 3 or 4 different numbers. I don't know what number they put in.
Does anyone know what this number is?

Thanks, !

(now to try and trudge through these visa forms!!)

your alien number is the one that appear on your NOA2, you can also find it on your I94 next to stamp of entry (in my case, the immigration officer wrote it down)

Typically for a K-1 it is above the beneficiary's name on the NOA2 received when the petiton is approved and the file is sent to the NVC.

Sounds like the CBP person could not find it and therefore was not able to write it on the I-94. For my wife, the only place the A# was written was on the NOA2 and no where else.

Good luck,

Dave

Is it my case number?

No.

A case number is a case number.

An alien number starts with A.

Here's where to find it on the NOA2: http://www.usimmigrationjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/NOA-2-K1-Fiance-Petition-Approval-Notice.jpg

It's also listed on the visa in the beneficiary's passport and on the I-94.

Maybe or maybe not. As I have stated repeatedly when this subject comes up, for US the A# was ONLY on the NOA2. It was not on the K-1 visa and it was not on the I-94. The only place I know for sure that everybody can find the A# is above the beneficiary's name on the NOA2 as per your example. It is in the form of XXX-XXX-XXX which differs from a SSN which is XXX-XX-XXXX.

This is to get an I-94 number. The OP is asking where to find their A#.

OP> It should be listed on your NOA2 approval notice for the I-129F. It is a 9 digit number that begins with an A. It is the Alien Registration Number. It is not always listed other places. Not all consulates print it on the K-1 visa, and not all CBP officers write it on the I-94. You should really only trust that the true and correct A# is the one on your NOA2. If you cannot find it anywhere on your NOA2 (my husband's was not listed on our NOA2 and that is quite rare), then contact the USCIS to find out what your actual A# is. You may need to speak to a tier 2 immigration agent to get detailed information about your case.

That's why I listed the NOA2 first.
