Have I paid all my fees?

My 9 year old step-son has his interview in Bangkok for his CR-2 visa next month, and I have a nagging feeling I am missing something. I received the letter from the embassy saying they have all the paperwork they need, and I have paid the Affidavit of Support fee along with the Immigrant visa fee. Do I have to pay an adjustment of status fee at some point? My understanding is that he will be issued a green card at some point, but is there additional paperwork involved like I did for my wife (came over on a K-1).

Thanks!

No, there are no additional fees, paperwork, or AOS filing once he arrives to get the green card. He will get a green card in the mail in about a month.

Since the visa is CR-2 I'm not clear on whether he'll get a 2 year green card or 10 year green card, since CR-2 implies it will be a 2 year green card. IR-2 would be a 10 year green card.

How long have you and your wife been married?

So yes it sounds like it will be a CR-2 visa which means it will result in a 2 year green card. When you file to lift conditions on your wife's 2 year card, it looks like you will have to file separately for the child, since the child is arriving more that 6 months after your wife.

There is still an additional fee, the Immigrant Fee which is $165. See link for more info: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=3a2bb75e8109b310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=fe529c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

That sucks. When did they start that? I know we didn't have to pay that in 2009.

Started February of this year.

I guess they need to cover costs for all the deferred action petitions the are getting.

Uh, no. DACA casefiles are prepaid, by the human signing the form.
