In the UK, if one says "what's up?" to someone, it means "what's the matter?" (as in....you suspect that someone is ill, depressed, or somesuch). Here, it seems to mean "how are you doing?" or "what's happening?" (in your life) etc.

Just a little wrankle.......Neil.

Well, you ain't in Kansas, errr the UK, anymore.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

What's hilarious is to hear some of my fellow southerners say this. It comes out something like "whutzup" rather than "wassup". I'm not to fond of the expression either but it's here to stay I'm sure.

Lucky, remember my comments about assimilation in another thread? You're right- this is not Kansas, nor the is the U.K.

To the O.P. You're here in the USA. Deal with it.....

Oh my God. I, like, can't believe you just, like said that! WHAT -EVER! Loser! (please imagine a big ol' finger L on my forehead, but of course backwards, because I'm a sixteen year old idiot :D ).

Sorry, went to see Panic at the Disco last night. The above conversation is still alive and well in the teenage community.

I concur. And may I add to the list of banished sayings, Get R Done. Oh if only I could get near you with a shovel Larry the Cable Guy...

And so he did what countless punk-rock songs had told him to do so many times before: he lived his life

10/07/2006 WEDDING DAY!

11/14/2006 AOS packet made it to 'the box' after being overnighted.

12/02/2006 Paul had biometrics

12/14/2006 AOS Forwarded to CSC AND AP Application approved.

01/17/2007 First touch of 2007 at CSC

01/20/2007 Touched AGAIN (also the 18th) come on...

February: Oops, RFE for a REGISTERED marriage certificate. Oops! Overnighted it.

02/28/2007 Paul gets email letting us know his GREENCARD is on it's way! It's done...for now!

03/09/2007 Paul's greencard arrives. And breathe...

We began with mailing the I-129 in on February 27, 2006 so the whole process took us approx. one year.

Good luck out there!

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Rather like when Sian gets on MSN and says "Hi! You alright?" Which means pretty much exactly what you listed for "What's up?" Asking someone if they're alright implies that either they aren't, or they've done something that would suggest that maybe they aren't. lol

Oh, and for the record....every time Sian says "Jacket Potato", I imagine Mr. PotatoHead wearing a Tux....

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Man, if I heard that I'd think something must've been wrong with me

What's up with that???

OK, I have another one I got a beef about, hehe, "DUDE" . . . when a woman says "hey, dude!" to me (another woman), I am wondering where the guy is!!!

This from a person who grew up saying "y'all", "you all", AND "you guys"!!!! and I am from the south but almost far enough north to NOT be southern.

:P
