Three words...stem cell research. That about sums up a true idiocy in the party.

Yes. Because it's not like it doesn't happen because they don't allow it. It happens. Just not here. Those jobs - high quality and well paying jobs - and those industries - high wealth producing industries - go where governments don't make it their business to stand in the way of progress. It's scandalous just how much economic opportunity this country has ceded to other nations under conservative government without even putting up a fight.

So now u can compare correctly internet speed is not a company either. Internet speed is based on your ISP service which is pvt company.

Govt did not invest in the fiber or dsl lines they were done by pvt companies but u cannot grasp that.

Really? There would be no internet without the governments investments in the technology? If you don't think the government invest in labs all over the country that bring new technology to the government and to the world then you're high on crack.

Do a little research and then come back when you can make an intelligent argument.

More accurately the biblical argument that is vehemently defended by the conservatives all because they think every stem cell is evil. (proving the moral majority still has a hold on the Republican ideology.)

It's blatant ignorance of the science and of the cures and advances in science that the research could bring to many. It's almost criminal.

Do a little research and then come back when you can make an intelligent argument.

One typically provides links to support one's argument. You should easily be able to find examples of government subsidies or tax incentives given to private internet providers to help promote infrastructure building. Then you win the argument.

Get your thoughts straight sometimes you talking about internet speed and sometimes you talking about internet technology.

I was under the impression that most US citizens were aware of the governments role in funding the university labs that developed the internet.

I would equate it to me having to provide a link to substantiate that the government funded the moon mission?

If you read any current science journal you'll see "private companies" now sending rockets into space. All with technology paid for and tested by the US government. Should I provide a link?

Besides, I'm not here to supply knowledge that should have been obtained by the 11th grade. Another drawback to being home schooled. :)

It's the same. Fiber technology made Internet speeds faster.

I thought we were talking about improvement not creation. Maybe you are all over the place. The argument is over government pushing improvements in private industries. What better example is there than government incentives to build Internet infrastructure? But you told him to go look it up when you could easily have pwned him. Edited by GandD

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123265622888307299.html

WASHINGTON -- The House Energy and Commerce Committee on Thursday approved rules for billions in government funds to spur high-speed Internet networks in unserved and underserved areas.

House Democrats have proposed $6 billion in Internet investments as part of a sweeping economic stimulus bill that the full House is expected to vote on next week.

The Internet funding portion of the stimulus bill -- a potential huge boon to phone, cable, and wireless companies -- bears the stamp of President Obama, who wants to blanket the country with high-speed connections. The $6 billion is considered a down payment on efforts Obama will make in this area over the next several years.

The Internet grants will be doled out by the Commerce Department and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

That's from typing in two words in google. I'm sure there are too many links to post. Are all of you guys this blind to the real world? Stop watching Fox News and learn about real facts.

There's a big difference between giving universities research grants (the internet) and giving private corporations (Tesla) loans.

Yeah...one is given and the other is loaned.
