That is your statement. You're arguing with yourself.

The same argument was made during the depression and the funding of the WPA. All the people earning a paycheck and working during that time sure didn't think it was flushed down the toilet.

One typically provides links to support one's argument. You should easily be able to find examples of government subsidies or tax incentives given to private internet providers to help promote infrastructure building. Then you win the argument.

Well he got his link...but I'm thinking he won't be responding. ;)

The funny thing is that the same people who criticize the government from intervening in the economy are the same who blame the government for the price of gas, and unemployment.

Half of the governments function is to in essence act as a quasi bank? Its an economy investor and stimulator. This is as old as the republic itself.

It is ??/ What article of the Constitution is that..

It is next to the chapter where it says you can make a right turn at a red light, except where posted otherwise.

What do you think the federal budget does? You think they just approve bills that cost nothing with no dollar amount attached? They appropriate funding for bills and enact laws.

Come on, this is government 101 folks.

Yes funding for public programs. Not loans. Is the govt. going to start directly competing with banks? Can I get a loan from the govt. for a new car? Govt. should NOT be in the business of loaning money to start-up companies. Bottom line.

You obviously failed Govt. 101.

They would if they had spent 500 million to build Hoover damn and it never got built and the money vaporized.

So really. what if they had sucked 50+ billion out of the economy, during a time when people were losing their homes and suffering, to fund big projects that failed? .

The WPA was not a handout. It funded , work. Hard work that benefited many Americans. It was not a venture capitalist program to fund a bunch of fat cats who failed in business.

I mean that analogy is not even close.

It is ??/ What article of the Constitution is that..

From the preamble to the US Constitution:

  1. To form a more perfect Union,
  2. To establish Justice,
  3. To insure domestic Tranquility,
  4. To provide for the common defense,
  5. To promote the general Welfare, and
  6. To secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterior.

Survey says 5! Tell him what he's won Johnny!

Its as ambiguous as the 2nd amendment agreed...but I'll say lets use it. If it's function isn't to pass a budget and allocate funding then we've got a lot of work to do don't we.

If you can't tell the difference between the WPA funding public works projects during the depression, and the govt. loaning a billionaire money to manufacture and sell $70,000 cars, you can't be helped.

So funding corporations that employe workers in an effort to keep them solvent is not even close? You win...its SOOOO different.

Besides they couldn't get a WPA enacted now...that would be INCREASE the size of government and the conservatives would NEVER get that past the baggers.

Basically lots of good ideas will never get passed today...for that very reason.

Wait. What??

Its a cut and paste. I hope you know the rest...if not there's a copy everywhere.

And if that's all you got...that's funny. LOL

Its okay. It was funny what you wrote. I assume it was an auto correct.

I thought about making a joke that Nature Boy hacked your account. He's got a sense of humor.
