Hi All,

I know I've seen it on here before, but can't find the thread. How do you transfer funds from UK to USA via PayPal with little or no fees?

Is it as simple as setting up an account in each country? Or is there a trick to it?

Thanks

Helen

Just go to the paypal site and read the instructions. It is a straightforward process. They may impose limits on the dollar amount of each transaction

YMMV

I rang PayPal the other day to check that I'd still be able to keep my UK PayPal account once I was in the US, and to ask if it's ok to use it to transfer money to myself (I'll set up a US one as well, linked to a US bank account, obviously). I wanted to check because I'd heard years ago that they don't like people having more than one account. The woman I spoke to said that it's absolutely fine, though - you just need to use a different email address for each one, and make sure that the PayPal account in each country is linked to a bank account and (corresponding) postal address in that country - ie, you can't give your address in the US for a UK PayPal account.

As for setting up the accounts and transferring the money, it's very easy - just go to their website and follow the instructions. You'll need to confirm that you are the owner of the bank account/credit card you're linking to the account before you can really use it - that's easy enough, they just make a couple of small deposits to your bank account (or to confirm a credit card, I think they make a couple of small charges - less than a dollar), then you have to check what the amounts are and enter them on your PayPal account. Once you've done that, your account's up and running, and it's easy to send/receive money.

Hope that helps a bit - and that it makes some kind of sense!
